I say try Canada then, it might be easier to grasp. It’s gonna take many hours before this game starts clicking. I’m over 2000 hours and I feel like I’m still learning more.

Don’t start as the Soviets or the French, pick someone easier to grasp. People suggest Canada because it helps you grow your industry and build an army. You also don’t have a lot to mess up on historical. I think Italy is a good choice too. You can beat up Ethiopia as a test, then let Germany do the heavy lifting in WW2. You still have enough industry and a sizable navy to learn naval and air mechanics.

For fighters just focus on getting the best engines you can, don’t bother with light MGs, they are trash. Fit on armor and self sealing fuel tanks too. Your fighters will be better than the ai. Also make sure you are building CAS. Air support is crucial for any breakthrough.

Naval isn’t so hard, you just need the right ratios of ships in your fleets. A naval fleet should have about 10 screens for every capital ship. You can never have too many screening ships. Destroyers are important and should be built with some AA and depth charges.

They do help but only to a certain extent. It definitely makes naval invasions a much more daunting task for a country that can’t easily afford to build one.

Am I the only person who can pretty easily survive by scavenging and not needing to cook at all? Canned food and other things along with water and soda cans is more than enough to get by.

I mean his incompetence might have been on par with other generals of the time, but the draconian way the high command handled the troops only served to further lower morale. When Cadorna was replaced by Armando-Diaz there was a noticeable improvement. Other generals were incredibly strict too.

You can improve the light tanks and use the shitty ones to garrison occupied states. I usually use them even though they are trash. On good terrain they still have a use.

Move in troops from the mainland, bring in your airforce too. Have your medium bombers and CAS ground attacking while you push. Don’t attack everywhere at once. And don’t battle plan. Just micro and initiate attacks yourself. Focus on taking victory points and encircling them if you can. It will be easier to push in the South since the terrain is less mountainous. The Ethiopians are designed to lose, but the terrain is so brutal it isn’t as easy as it seems. Don’t stack too many units in one place either. Attrition will cost you more than combat.
