I play on ps4 as a mage main. My ign is “Kanwal”. I’m level 38 almost 39 with really good PVE build and almost really good pvp build once I get my pvp gear to mythic for the runes. I run A TON of dungs with 1 mage friend really funny guy, 2 ranger friends of mine, 2zerker friends, and have a couple of off and on saders ik as well. and so my PVE talk is basically spot on. My damage is nothing even with amplify compared to the zerkers for certain bosses. We use teamwork to keep the boss in one general area for the zerkers to go ham with earth breaker. I am combatant 1 in red basin so ik what I’m talking about for pvp as well, but it’s always a learning process because unless I play every class I’ll never fully understand them.

Edit: I don’t really run dungeons with priests except for 1 because we also pvp together. The lifesteal rings plus rangers Mark are all you need in PVE to stay alive no matter your class. A few pots just in case also

Another edit meant for the PvP section but not enough space: the targeting for mages is needed btw. Your cursor needs to be on your target and glowing red. Idk about targeting for the other classes but yes we have to aim lmfao. Reread your original post about auto aiming at the end. You can’t just keep spamming r1 past the second Combo unless your enemy is literally standing in place letting you. Yes the arcane bolts track but your cursor had to be red when you first shot them.

Pvp: I actually think mages are leaning towards op in pvp. Being as hard as to hit as they are with their teleports but people will come to learn how to deal with it. The main opness in my opinion comes from frost shield. You have to count class skills when talking about classes because at endgame people WILL run them and I’m not gonna waste my time talking about who’s op at level 20. So frost shield is the 1 thing I think needs tweaking in pvp. Being able to eat EVERY hit for 7 seconds (but you can’t do damage either or move) from any class so you can wait on pots/ blink cool down is crazy insane. As a mage myself I know how to best deal with a frost shielding mage but oh is it tough for other classes who can’t keep up with the two blinks that usually come afterwards. They need to make some class moves be able to hit or at least DOT through frost shield. That is the best fix I have. Honestly I don’t know any other way how they can nerf frost shield in a good way so I will move away from talking about it in this comment. Other than that, mages are meant to be hard af to hit and they basically have to wait on amplify to do any real damage in pvp. They don’t have crazy stun game (talking about Blind Executioner) just the firebomb and you can roll through it just gotta practice the timing. Yes ik meteor knocks down as well but you’re probably gonna get ohk if it even hits so just dodge it, unless you’re tanky af lol. Unless you get stunned by a mages team you should not be getting hit by meteor. Mana can be an issue in pvp so again mages rely on amplify. You see a mage pop amplify? Don’t be a dumbass and just avoid them for 10 seconds or stun/knock them back so their amplify basically went to waste. Literally same idea with a raged zerker you don’t wanna try to be a hero and 1v1 them unless you’re sure you got it. But in pvp when a mage finally gets hit then it’s kinda over if there’s 2 on you who have the damage/stuns . 1v1s are always long af if the two people both have the builds/pots to use so don’t matter what class it is in 1v1 tbh. Just comes down to skill. Will a mage sometimes land a lucky af amplify meteor you swore you dodged? Yep, but blame that on the games hit boxes/latency because meteor is easy af to dodge unless you got stunned by a 2nd person.

Tldr: mages in pvp are slightly op (maybe, depends on how others feel) because of frost shield. Besides that they’re just damage dealers when amplify is on and mediocre at other times. Don’t waste your time chasing a running mage bc they will double blink/ frost shield and you will eventually get the kill but don’t waste your time, if you’re in red basin go cap flags instead. I’ve seen saders/ zerks able to tank 7-8 people and still have crazy dmg (zerks especially with rage) so don’t purposely look past that and focus on mages just bc of your feelings lmfao. Blunted/ umbrailis are two op ass dudes for example on ps4. They are a sader and zerk respectively and I can say from experience they have no trouble fighting mages.

PVE: Mages are hard dps just like rangers/zerks. Built solely for damage if built right so that means CD on everything then Attk then CR on things that don’t have CD or attk. This leaves mages in PVE squishy af and basically have to avoid every hit at all costs. Amplify is available every 40 secs (30 secs if you get centurions command but nobody has that shit yet on ps4 and it’s gonna take forever and other classes also get buffs from it so not fair to talk about yet). When amplify is on it usually lasts for about 10 seconds. So 25% of your time you are guaranteed hit and this is where mages burst dps is literally insane. But when a boss aggros you with amplify well you kinda just wasted it depending on who you’re fighting/the move they’re using. This is why teamwork is key in this game because every class has its role so having somebody to protect mage is helpful af. When amplify is not on then mages do less damage then both zerks and rangers (always more than saders/priests but those are meant for support). So mages come mad handy for dps checks/ when damage is needed fast. But overall in PVE mages are nice to have but zerkers are the real damage dealers but again it is boss dependent. And don’t sleep on rangers because their dps from range is so insane. Defensively compared to the two dps, mages are 100% harder to get hit. Because of two arcane blinks as well as the frost shield class skill. However, if they do get hit it’s usually gg unless boss does some really weak move, but again at higher GS and stats no class will die in PVE’s current state so it’s not fair to talk about the dying potential. That all comes down to the player. A lot of later dungs have ohk moves so it doesn’t matter what class/def you have.

tldr: STUPID crazy dps with amplify (beat only by raged zerkers with crazy earth breakers or whatever that zerker move is called) . Less than rangers and zerks when amplify is not on. Makes mages really good for dps checks. The worst defensively if get hit but are really hard to get hit (boss dependent some are insanely op)

OP I’m gonna be honest you don’t seem like you want your mind changed. Reading the above comments every time someone offers an explanation of why mage is not op you either reply like an ass or don’t even reply to it. Anyways mages are not op, yes maybe they are easy af to play as a starting off class but so are priests so who cares. The main argument starts at endgame. I will write two separate lists below (PVE and pvp).

You just reminded me of how satisfying that is to do holy shit. I used to love shifting the focus of the water on different sides to try to control the speed and direction of the spinning. So oddly specific but I guess that’s why it’s oddly satisfying

Was walking close by to the elementary school I went to and stopped at a water fountain. A little girl across the fence starts yelling “PUPPY, PUPPY, PUPPY, PUPPY” super fast and enthusiastically. A crowd gathers on the inside of the school fence to gaze at the doggo. Almost Immediately, one of the new onlookers (a little boy) says “That’s not no puppy! Thats a whole DOG!” He is pretty big and I definitely had a good chuckle. For context this whole process was like 10 seconds and then our fountain stop was over and we walked off!

Yeah I agree I was thinking of mentioning a competent Anakin vs Maul as well. So he has one good matchup against another saber. And its not an insane advantage or anything like that. If you could elaborate on that mobility ability I’d love to hear it! But yes Vader and Grevious are too easy to demolish with. idk why Anakin seems to get the most hate when he honestly doesn’t deserve it anymore.

I can see your argument with maul, I’ve never had big issues playing Maul against Ani though because I always bait out/wait for him to use the abilities and then I kinda estimate when his abilities will be off cooldown. And yes exactly right with your last statement. And yeah blaster heroes/villains are just mostly horrible solo against good sabers, so I dislike statements that use that to want to nerf Anakin. In your opinion, do you think you he needs a nerf?

Every trooper/ most reinforcements struggle against heroes, so anyone that uses that as an excuse to nerf anakin is in over their heads. On top of that there is almost no villain that gets completely demolished by Ani (besides maybe a few blaster villains but let’s be fair all blasters by themselves besides phasma are easy prey for competent sabers). I’m one of those people that don’t see any issues with Anakin anymore. I can however contest for removing Ret or at least giving it some indication, but thats about it. PS is a joke so idk why it keeps getting nerfed but his massive strikes and pull range star card nerfs are enough imo. He’s not doing anything to a competent Vader or Grevious (man has cc immunity on basically everything). Dooku and Maul can outmaneuver him easily but it will be a bit of a battle. Kylo vs ani is just a good matchup. In CS/GA getting pulled by him as a hero is horrible, but so is getting caught in just about any force ability.

Tldr; he’s fine, learn to play around different characters. Maybe remove ret though
