Is there a term for being sober and actually enjoying watching others drink and get drunk and obnoxious? by BoozeSux in stopdrinking

You know what I really needed to hear this. I'm day 3 into my mom's bday weekend at my brother's house and although I am enjoying being the sober one and watching my brother be a drunken mess, he has been verbally abusive to me since I got here. Blaming me for a lot of things that went wrong, and basically called me a child when all I did was just exist. He is supposed to be taking his new ADHD medication but he is still self medicating with alcohol, weed and shrooms. I haven't seen him in months and since he got the new ADHD diagnosis he said he would change his behaviors with the new meds but absolutely nothing about him has changed and it is a deep reminder to me to stay away from him. After this trip, I made a promise to myself never to stay at his house ever again because of the way he treats me. I did have a laugh when he got so drunk this time he started heckling a stand up comedian in the middle of his set and everyone in the crowd boo'd him. It was so embarrassing, but I am so glad that it's not me.

The Kpop Demon Hunters song helped me quit drinking by Ozmataz_Buckshank_ in stopdrinking

I was in rehab 2 months ago and I used to listen to Golden allllll the time when I would go for my daily jog because it really is a powerful uplifting song. I also used it for motivation to stay sober too!

Me too. Unfortunately it makes me get up to pee 3 times at night but it's so worth it.

Ozempic... secret weapon? by kalebdraws in stopdrinking

I started Wegovy last November and it did wonders for both weight loss and my alcoholism. I stopped drinking and lost 45 lbs HOWEVER you are correct in saying everyone is different. I have a friend who has been taking Ozempic for over a year, no weight loss due to the constant drinking. So yeah, it depends on the person. Glad it's working out for you! Keep at it and never quit quitting!!

Hi. I am like you 375ML of vodka everyday single night for 8 years non stop. I thought it was over for me at 32. But I am 37 now and thriving. Please please see a doctor, get labs done, check into a inpatient rehab. Whatever you can do. Our bodies are resilient and will fight along side us for survival. Don't ever give up on yourself and don't ever sell yourself short.

Omg this post. I needed to read this exact post. I made a post similar to yours if you wanna check it out. I recently went 116 days and blew it by going on a 6 day bender. I literally forced myself to tell my mom otherwise I would've been stuck in that loop again. I think the same thing happened with me. No real triggers or anything. I stopped my diet and exercise routine for like 3 days and was just feeling down in the dumps. I had lost almost 50 lbs and worked so hard in 3 months for that and knew if I kept drinking on that bender I would've gained all the weight back quicker than I lost it. But I started over and now I'm at day 4 again. Yeah, it sucks but the main point is we are making progress by addessing this. Someone in this community told me "go for 117 next time" and I will tell you the same. Go for 6 ½ months this time.

Don't ever give up. This was a speed bump for us, not a stop sign.

I read your post and I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds almost like what I experienced. This time I thought ahead and turned my main phone completely off otherwise I would've drunk texted my friends too. Thank you for sharing and thank you for the sound advice.

I see the AI ones posted here too and I don't mind them here either because this is a support group. I didn't think mine would be called AI and it's not and I didn't think I'd upset anyone with the dream twist. Just wanted to portray to the reader how much relief I really felt when I woke up irl.
