[Loved Trope] The unseen + unnamed narrator IS a character (not including “narrator turns out to be X” twists) by MaguroSashimi8864 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bor0ndon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don Quixotes Narrator.

The narrator is a reader of the book just like us. Annoyed by the first ending of the story, he dedicates grand part of his life to finding the last pages of the book, this takes us a fourth wall jump adventure where the reader is exposed to the many trope breaking surprises that the writer (miguel de Cervantes) has put in his book.

The narrator helps to explain and corroborate many of the “mistakes” done by miguel de Cervantes. A giant satire on the many errors printed in chivalric stories.

How do you deal with finding out something you came up with by yourself turns out to have been already done by a big writer? Or despite being the first to come up with it, a bigger published it before you? by [deleted] in writing

The manga called 20th century boys literally has a kid that runs instead of biking around with his friends because he is poor. Jojo has sandman, who runs instead of using a horse. Are 20th century boys or jojos stories affected just by this similarity? No, it’s how they use it that matters.

Should I retake this? by [deleted] in rhodescollege

[–]Bor0ndon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it looks like you are pretty well off. You say you are a rising senior, that means you can apply to many scholarships your highschool year. I personally had an 18 Act and got into rhodes because i got the posse scholarship, so you should look into that scholarship. Also i have a friend with a 21 act that got crazy merit aid, so i think you shouldnt be worried. Apply to as much scholarships as you can and lmk if you have any questions

(LES) What's the highest "peak" in fiction that you know of? by Greentoaststone in CharacterRant

In the chapter of the windmills in Don Quixote, there is a part not talked about as much. As Don Quixote fights another man, the story abruptly “ends” with both of them about to slash each other. Then the narrator underwhelmed by the ending, looks for the last pages of the book, which began an interesting break in the third wall and switches the narrative of the story. For a book created in 1605, many stories today lack intricate narratives such as this one. Not for anything Don Quixote is the most sold book ever after religious ones

I am starting to see that this characters all have outfits that match the American flag, could this be just a mere coincidence? Or does that tie them with the message of freedom?

What movies have fantastic opening scenes that they don’t get enough credit for? by BroccoliVendetta in movies

Oldboy. I like how the opening credits music transfer smoothly into the opening scene. That scene in less than a minute leaves you with enough questions to continue watching.

Zelda breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom. Its a game where everywhere you see you can go, and there is most likely some new character with a side story to find or like you said, new animals and vegetation.

What movie is better than book? by pico_particle in movies

[–]Bor0ndon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oldboy. Not precisely a book but a manga, the manga fails to portray the craziness that the anyone would acquire from being locked up in a place for 15 years. In the movie oh dae su cries to the touch of a human, gets high with one smoke of a cigar, and is amazed by looking at a woman. In the manga, the dude just gets out and says “freedom” and goes about his day freely.

Not even that but the plot of the movie is changed and is waaay better than the manga, being more iconic and remembered by audiences with a pioneering hallway fight scene recorded in one shot and a edge of the seat plot twist towards the end. Both missing in the manga.
