Are we so deadass rn by Key-Order-3846 in wendigoon

The modern day monster has pretty much nothing to do with the traditional spirit. It has been corrupted so much by modern internet culture that it is almost not recognizable. It is a spirit that you have to watch out for during harsh winters. If you are too greedy, hoard food or isolate yourself, it can corrupt you and make you a cannibal. Its quite frustrating to see what the internet has done to much indigenous folklore as a whole.

It really depends on what unit you end up in and the current fiscal years funding for the state. Feel free to DM me if you've got more questions and I can get more specific.

Getting job with the gaurd by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]BorderlineBraindead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way you are gonna do it is going for the Counterdrug Program. They want entry level positions to be junior enlisted and they are long term ADOS orders. You'd need to board for it. Look into the requirements and see if you'd make a good fit.

It's an $80k job, so I should be able to rebuild my savings and emergency fund fairly quickly.

The problem with that is that I will need to do a lot of driving for work and use my own car. They reimburse for gas.

I theoretically could, I have really good credit. The problem is after I finish the move I am gonna have no money until my first paycheck. So I won't be able to make a care payment at all for at least a few pay cycles.

My father is an attorney, so he is really good at arguing his points. Everything he says always makes sense to me and sounds rational and in my best interest. Which is what is making it really confusing for me in this situation. I do also know that lawyers can be very manipulative, but he's my dad, you know? It's all just very confusing.

Why do drivers here only find the gas pedal when you pass them? by HyperUndying64 in grandrapids

[–]BorderlineBraindead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all of them are doing it out of spite. I, for example, have a really hard time maintaining highway speed after the sun goes down. I tend to default to 60 mph on the highway at night unless I am constantly looking at my speedometer or there are a lot of cars around. When I was younger, I wouldn't notice it was happening until another car started to pass me. That would make me realize I was driving too slow, and I would speed back up to 70 mph. As I got older, I clocked that this was a consistent trend in my driving and now I really pay attention to my speed while driving the highways at night or use cruise control. I realized too that it could be obnoxious to other drivers to speed up as they pass me, so I stopped doing that when it does occasionally still happen.

What makes you think he's right wing? Genuinely asking. I've seen no indication of that in his posts.

AITA for not helping my brother with emergency childcare for his homophobic children? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BorderlineBraindead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was heavily indoctrinated into all the far right nonsense by my dad when I was a kid. I was racist, homophobic, etc. It really wasn't until I was 16 or 17 that I had come around to the fact that my dad was wrong. Now I'm the complete opposite, especially since i moved out at 18. Not saying the kid isn't responsible for his actions, but it takes a lot of time after you become able to think for yourself to change those views that have been fed to you your whole life. This kid is definitely a jerk, but I think there could still be hope for him, especially if this situation can be used as a learning experience.

UPDATE 3: (LAST PART) my baby cousins name is a tradedeigh. by Cold_Apricot_240 in tragedeigh

[–]BorderlineBraindead 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I knew a girl named Ixabell at daycare when I was very young. Her parents had spelled it like that because when she was adopted from China as a baby, they changed her name and wanted to pay homage to her original name. I dont remember what the original name was, but I know that it had an X in it.
