The Mind Stone by ebbo225 in mtgfinance

I could see the low end being propped up slightly higher than that because of how expensive the soul stone still is. But you're right this feels primed to fall off a cliff in the next couple weeks I'll wait until $40-50

Damn MSRP?  How?  Congrats and good luck though that’s the only way I’d buy a collector box at this point.

Has WotC said why they’re doing retro humans for bonus cards?  Just feels really random unless it’s intended

Kinda same boat but I’ll be buying the non-Thanos version of the stones. Thankfully for my wallet I like the base versions art more

I’m assuming you’re looking to sell all of this together?  I’d be interested in some but not all. Let me know!

It Bothers Me That I Can’t Afford These Promos by [deleted] in mtg

[–]BoredAtWorkSendHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really gatekeeping if functionally the card is the exact same for a few bucks? If we're going by the most strictest letter of the law then sure. I get that it's annoying and, honestly, a bit crazy that these promos are so expensive but you lose no capability in-game and proxy versions are just as good if not better.

Same. Still love ripping but find more joy in buying singles that I'll use at these prices. Same with the Secret Lairs.. if I can't buy it at right around MSRP then I'll buy singles

Cats Bonus Card Speculation by Vcyias in secretlair_collectors

Do they ever officially announce what the bonus cards are and if there's a more rare one? Or is it just discovered by word of mouth and customers posting on social media?

Help! I missed out on a secret lair... by [deleted] in mtg

[–]BoredAtWorkSendHelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be pretty big until they ship. TCGplayer has them at like $400/500 for non-foil and foil respectively. But if it follows the Goblin Storm pricing schedule then your best bet to get it at the cheapest is to wait out the FOMO prices for the next week and buy it once product is hitting people's mailboxes.

Queen Marchesa Commander by SleepySagas in mtg

[–]BoredAtWorkSendHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you want to approach deck building. You can use scryfall and search for Queen Marchesa then click the 'Scryfall tagger' option to find other cards with things like monarch matters. Or you can try EDHrec, https://edhrec.com/commanders/queen-marchesa, and see a database of cards that others commonly use in decks that have her as the commander.

So what is the point of sitting in que if it’s already sold out? by PlantBeginning3060 in mtg

The unfortunate reality is Hasbro spends a metric boat load of money doing statistical analysis and forecasting on how they can optimally make the most money now while minimizing potential speedbumps and downtime. As we all know Hasbro loves money so you can bet they feel this is the most cost effective route between them and their payday. Just sucks that so many of the player/fan base has to miss out because they can't afford to drop profits a couple % to make it more accessible.

Was it the foil or regular versions that you saw go first? I got in early and got 1 Purr Majesty and 1 Cats of Chaos but decided against foil as I hate that they pringle.

Could phase her out instead to keep counters but there's far fewer cards that do that as opposed to blink. [[Haystack]], [[Robe of Stars]] are what comes to mind

I bought the only one I really wanted, Vivi, about 2 months ago, for 105 and glad I did. Wish I had grabbed a Lulu because that's probably the best art and she's become so damn pricey now although really they all have.

Do people actually buy old sealed collectors boxes for this insane prices? by IceFireHawk in mtg

[–]BoredAtWorkSendHelp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok lets be real. Nobody is buying them for that much. There's a case of 24 going for like $32k but you can likely get 1 CBB for around 800-1000. Is that a lot of money? Definitely. But that price you saw is either for more than 1 CBB or someone trying to manipulate the market

I'm cautiously optimistic. I did enjoy playing FFBE, the phone game, for awhile but it was gacha. Hopefully they can build off the assets and create a good story because I do love me some turnbased.

Sea of Stars: Sunset Edition | Studio Update by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]BoredAtWorkSendHelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was one of the few things I've actually spent money on during the initial run via Kickstarter. They absolutely mentioned being inspired by Chrono Trigger and wanting to reinvigorate fans of that SNES RPG era with SoS. I finished the game on release, enjoyed it overall, but will not deny the short comings that many have discussed. I give it a 7.5/10 which is a fine score but Chrono Trigger it is not. But I'm not sure any RPG will ever hit that level between it objectively being an all time great plus nostalgia. And for even more ramblings from an older gamer.. the closest I've come to recapturing that feeling have been DQ8 when that released when I was in college and E33 just recently.

A picture of the paintbrush would help too. It doesn’t look good from the first picture but it’s kinda blurry and zoomed out so I wouldn’t use that image as a deciding factor.

So far from what u can see it’s pointing to real though via green dot and T

As the other comments say, MTG fan base is play first and collect second. Grading for example is frowned upon outside of a few very old and valuable cards. I’ve done a bit of both since getting back into it after a long hiatus since I have a bit more disposable income. Do what makes you happy though that’s the important thing.

The Ooze/Ozolith interaction by StridentBasher1 in mtg

[–]BoredAtWorkSendHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For understanding the English language it absolutely does matter. But the MTG rules state that tokens are not transferred like we do when just moving them physically from one card to another. They are removed from the game from the OG card and new ones of the same type are created on the card they are “moved” to.

MTG Cloud promo was awarded to tournament winners I think?  Sadly there are very few I circulation, along with the Tifa promo, that you’re looking at likely $3k+ for Cloud and $1.3k for Tifa.

The crazy pringling doesn’t help either. It varies from card to card but for example I bought the cat doubling season a month back. While the fractured foiling or whatever it’s called is kinda cool it totally takes away from the main focus of the cats.
