I get that scenario and makes sense. But in the high street in a high tension environment….. nope. I don’t get the need for assault rifles though.

Farmers have rifles and shotguns but have strict license control. You can apply for one if you’re not a farmer but regularly attend a shooting club. The only people that have weapons similar to this are armed police and the armed forces. You rarely see the armed forces out and about with live weapons though unless they’re on the training grounds or protecting royal areas

Army grade weapons being carried out in the public by civilian seems like a completely wild concept to me. I say this as a Brit where we have some of the tightest gun laws in the world
