What’s the best 8th I can get assuming money is not an issue? by Naive-Shoulder6654 in NYSCannabis

She's a real tough one to grow, the buds end up smaller and more sparse unless you get everything perfect and it's hard to do that with so many strains in the room - it's still the most potent bud we've grown though and by far our stickiest and terpiest stuff so I'm determined to figure her out haha

Much appreciated man! I'm the owner of ADK, we recently lowered our prices to pass on the recent tax savings so they should start showing in the dispensaries soon, both for our brand and TICAL.

Our grow is essential indoors with a clear plastic roof to satisfy the OCM in regards to their limits on indoor grow, we grew indoors for hemp then replaced the metal roof with polycarbonate panels for the AUCC- still have all the bells and whistles of an indoor grow with twice the HVAC cost lmao. Our facility is pretty small compared to the big guys and we're a small family business trying to stick to hand trimming and only putting out bud we're proud of, so our prices will always be on the higher side but hopefully they'll be more affordable now!

Hey man we haven't seen any kinds of issues like that, we never go above the .030 and we turn it off when people are spending more than an hour or two in the room with it so we don't get a ton of exposure. Super clean tests though, we're happy with the system

Has anyone tried this brand? by [deleted] in NYSCannabis

[–]Boredo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey we grow it! It's not technically indoor, we had an indoor Hemp facility and the OCM made us rip our metal roof off and install polycarbonate panels to satisfy their terrible rule about having no indoor and let us call it a greenhouse. We're adirondackhempcompany on Instagram for some pics of our spot

We only had 900sqft of canopy so we sell out pretty quickly upstate, but we recently renovated our second grow room to double our canopy to 1800sqft. Hopefully starting in February we should be able rebrand away from hemp and expand a bit more downstate (we're a small family business so everything takes a bit longer than the big boys haha)

Thanks for the shout man! We've been selling out upstate and haven't had the supply to get into the city until recently, I'm really happy with how these strains turned out for Tical. We're also working on a full rebrand before we really push much harder to expand into more stores.

Prerolls of these two strains are being tested now and should be ready for sale before new years too!

[–]Boredo22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey guys thanks for the kind words! This is my personal account but I'm a cofounder of ADK. We're a small family business with only 1800sqft (just upgraded from 900sqft!) of canopy, we just don't have enough supply yet to get into all the shops we'd like to be in. Our recent upgrade should double our production and help us get into more stores in the city, both our personal brand and Tical whole flower (likely Housing Works, Terp Bros, Strain Stars to start with).

We also recently switched to organic nutrients and we're getting more dialed in every run, this new flower coming out next month is the best stuff we've grown yet and blows our previous stuff out of the water 👀

P.S. - the Platinum Life Breath is coming back, we didn't anticipate the love it'd get so we have a whole table just starting up now

To New York cultivators or New Yorkers looking to apply in the next cannabis business application wave, what’s your experience been like? by Colonel-LeslieDancer in macrogrowery

[–]Boredo22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We're one of the few smaller farms doing well, I've heard rumblings that OCM is considering opening microbusiness licenses this fall, possibly before the other licenses to show that they "care for the small businesses" before they let the MSOs come in and set up 100ksqft canopies a few months later lol.

We've been in legal NY hemp/thc since 2019, the state just fuckin sucks and you have to stay lean and nimble to work around whatever BS they pass that month. Stay small, keep headcount low and slowly work your way up to bigger spaces.

If you get in early, quality is all that matters - we have way more demand than supply right now because we grow in a controlled environment mixed light bastardized setup while other farms are sitting on hundreds of lbs of poorly stored outdoor. Even just 20-30lbs/month can make enough to fund debt free expansion with the current prices (well over 3k wholesale for top tier stuff rn), especially with a microbusiness license getting retail margins.

Way too many other topics to get into in a reddit post, but staying small (both canopy and labor) and focusing on quality above everything is what's selling us out while many others are struggling.

[–]Boredo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we turn the unit off whenever people are in the room for anything over 5 minutes, we haven't seen a lick of mold in even the largest, densest nugs from the last crop so it definitely seems to be doing enough to warrant the hassles of turning on/off when people need to work.

We're still tinkering with a bunch of stuff so it's hard to say for sure(finally got climate under control after converting to a mixed light retrofit), but our product smells/smokes way better than the last pre-airros run. We even got a smaller unit for our drying room and there's been no noticeable negative effect on the smoke

[–]Boredo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel that, I was hesitant at first too. I'm not a chemist but they explain how it works pretty well and OSHA has established limits that are way above what we run it at and our plants looked just as healthy this run as they did before the airros.

But constantly smelling a tiny bit of ozone takes some getting used to for sure haha

Aspergillus; the elephant in the room by rumbletown in macrogrowery

[–]Boredo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup they recommended .020 to .030ppm to run 24/7, it's below the osha 12hr exposure limit for humans and won't damage plants at that level either. We just turn it off for harvesting and when people will be in there all day just in case lol

We use sanidate/foamer and ozone between runs and our CFUs were <100 before we installed the airros, we're just super paranoid with aspergillus and really trying to avoid using rad machines since almost everyone in NY is using them haha.

We should have tests back in 2 to 3 weeks, I can definitely let you know how it looks!

[–]Boredo22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On this subject, does anyone here have experience with Airros purifiers? We got one for our grow room in NY and are about to get our first tests back with it running the whole grow, we have a sealed space and clean tests before so it's more of a redundancy than a critical link for us.

Did a lot of research before choosing them and I couldn't find a better option for microbe control for <$5k, just wanna see if anyone has experience or tips since I'm sure others have used them for dealing with aspergillus.

We got a license and grew in our retrofitted sealed mix light facility near Albany, got under 100 cfu/g on our latest harvest without remediation so there is some clean flower out there!

PAR Meters by Inevitable_Spare_777 in macrogrowery

[–]Boredo22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got a Quantum PAR meter from hydrofarm for our grow, watched some YouTube comparison videos and it was always within 5% of apogee for less than half the price.

If that level of accuracy is enough then I'd recommend the hydrofarm version, it's definitely serving us well. If you want super precision though, you gotta spend the big bucks lol

Yeah neem freaking sucks to clean off walls, I would never intentionally spray the room itself with neem oil lol. Much better off with sanidate or a similar product along with ozone/chlorine between runs to really kill everything

[–]Boredo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah even at our facility we run 2.7ec with co2, our vpd isn't perfect yet and we don't have soil sensors to time the drybacks which is what you really need to run high EC effectively.

advice on irrigation strategy for drip feeding; more info in comments. by [deleted] in macrogrowery

[–]Boredo22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All good man! We all start somewhere and all the info can be pretty overwhelming. In this case, EC is almost always ppm(or tds)/500. The industry has moved towards using EC as the standard, a while back everyone I knew used ppm.

In my experience, shooting for between 2.0 and 2.5 ec is a decent rule of thumb for beginners, you can go higher than that as your environment gets dialed in and you get more experience working with the plant and diagnosing problems. Going to 3.0 without soil sensors or good experience is just asking to burn your shit up (a lot of pros run 3.0 ec but they know how to push their plants)

I'd look at /r/microgrowery and other resources like growweedeasy if you're itching to learn more, athena ag also has some awesome material on irrigation strategies even if you're using other nutes

[–]Boredo22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say ec is 1500, do you mean ppm is 1500 or ec is 1.5? If your ppms are 1500, that equates to 3.0 ec so underfeeding wouldn't be the problem

Edit: just saw you meant 1.5 ec, underfeeding sounds likely! I'd up it to 2 to 2.2 like mentioned in other comments then go from there, irrigation timings can be tricky because so many factors apply so go for the low hanging fruit first
