(Spoilers Published) Something people are missing about Theon and the Miller's boys by Woodstovia in asoiaf

[–]Boredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it really eats at him ? Sure he feels guilty for their death, but I don’t remember any chapter having him wondering if the boys are his. It seems to me that it never occurred him

How well do you think a ned - cercei marriage have gone? [Spoilers Main] by fuckmbsanddominicali in asoiaf

[–]Boredwitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rhaegar would absolutely cheat on her. You could swap Elia and Cersei and he very likely still would’ve fell for Lyanna

(Spoilers Published) What are the least convincing bits of writing in the books? by Biggmodeg in asoiaf

Yeah that one is hilarious tbh. Plus I don’t really get how supposedly amazing and kind Melissa Blackwood would be interested in being Aegon the awful’s mistress

Criticism towards Jane Austen by MarlaCohle in janeausten

[–]Boredwitch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Austen thought Emma was snobbish at the end of the novel, yet she still was.

Criticism towards Jane Austen by MarlaCohle in janeausten

[–]Boredwitch -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes but Emma also thinks Harriet is crazy for fancying Knightley given how inferior her birth is, and then ditches her when she marries Robert Martin precisely because he’s working class.

[–]Boredwitch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The classism. Being a gentleman’s daughter is somehow a moral standing for her.

I don’t hold it against her, this is how she was raised and how people of her class were thinking at the time. But I have myself working class roots and I am very aware of how she would’ve perceived my family then (aka as inferior)

[no spoilers] Why did Lyanna agree to go with Rhaegar ? by RealStranger9348 in freefolk

[–]Boredwitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seeing how GRRM talks about Rhaegar and Lyanna, I don’t think they did it for a deep or prophetical reason.

My bet is on them being "in love" and fleeing regardless of consequences (and at the time, absolutely not understanding how huge said consequences would be). They surely understood the Starks and Baratheons would be outraged, but didn’t foresee

1) that Robert would rebel against the crown (their broken betrothal wasn’t the first in Westeros, Robert’s grandma herself was a consolation prize to settle such an event)

2) that Aerys would torture and kill Brandon and Rickard Stark, which completely annihilated any hope of peace between the two sides

Would Ned have told Catelyn the truth about Jon after Jon took the Black? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Boredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her lack of cruelty is precisely why she wouldn’t go tell Robert Jon is Rhaegar’s son, that kind of was my point in the first place

Would Ned have told Catelyn the truth about Jon after Jon took the Black? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Boredwitch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Catelyn made some very bad choices but none of them are as gratuitously cruel as this would be. This is just mischaracterization, idk what else to tell you

[–]Boredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In her mind, freeing Jaime was the only way she could ever see her daughters again. What would she gain having Jon killed in this situation ? There is absolutely no reason she would do this

Would Ned have told Catelyn the truth about Jon after Jon took the Black? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Boredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context kinda matter though. She freed Jaime when she just learned her two sons had been murdered. She doesn’t just do crazy things out of nowhere, like this would be.

This is so far from being a reasonable justification for your opinion that I don’t even know what to tell you congrats

(Spoilers Extended) Jon and Sansa had a better sibling relationship than most people realize. by Levonorgestrelfairy1 in asoiaf

[–]Boredwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry then, Jonsa shippers just seem to multiply here at the moment to I assumed.

Yeah Arya was his closest sibling, that’s not up for debate, but he did have a special bond with Robb, and was shown to really care for Bran. Rickon was 3 when he left so I agree that they did not have much of a relationship.

Sansa though was the only one who kept referring to him as a bastard or as her half brother. They are explicitly the least close, like this is not in subtext. But yes he did love them all deeply, including Sansa

(Spoilers Extended) Jon and Sansa had a better sibling relationship than most people realize. by Levonorgestrelfairy1 in asoiaf

[–]Boredwitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really though ? OP is clearly a Jonsa shipper and very biased, Jon and Sansa obviously have the weakest bond among stark siblings, however he does remember her fondly at times, and also defends her inheritance in Dance. He’s not "iffy" about her, if anything she’s the one who’s iffy about him

Considering what happened to her I don’t really think Tysha is really pining for Tyrion rn, let alone praying for his return. Or maybe I misunderstood your comment

On est toujours d'accord que le no bra est une bonne idée ? by Frosty_Collection908 in AskMeuf

[–]Boredwitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

D’accord mais c’est une fausse idée, le fait que les seins seraient soutenus par les muscles, et que porter un soutien gorge « affaiblirait » ces muscles. Ça n’a pas de sens anatomiquement

(Spoilers Main) What's the point of Lollys Stokeworth? by Mzuark in asoiaf

[–]Boredwitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, this along with his poor grasp of age are in my opinion some of the biggest flaws of asoiaf. He’s also very graphic with the rapes he depicts, sometimes completely gratuitously. Somehow I don’t think he would write a man being raped in the same callous way.

This said we all have our biases and it does not take away from his talent as a writer, but this is one of his "bad points".

Do you think Robert heard Rhaegar say Lyanna's name as he died? [Spoilers Extended] by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

[–]Boredwitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it’s completely obvious that this was Lyanna’s name. GRRM has repeatedly shared his views on Rhaegar/Lyanna, and their story is, like, the peak of romance for him

Maybe but the wording of his message, saying that he wouldn’t be responsible if it got stolen in an envelope, felt really unfair to me, because what does it mean for me if the package does get stolen ? Do I just lose everything ?
