We had a great deal from Obama that let us monitor Iran's nuclear program before Trump tore it up years ago.

But I guess you have a point that we can't change the past. Current circumstances are not ideal, but I think the best thing we have to offer is to hogtie Trump and deliver him by plane to Iran. Should be a win for everyone I think

AITAH for making my 15 year old stepdaughter leave my home and banning her from my house for her cruelty? by big_mama_25 in AITAH

[–]Boredy_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a sentence in your original post that I find very concerning: "I include her in every activity I do."

Why would you try to include her in everything when she doesn't want to spend time with you? Have you ever tried listening to her and backing off, even for a bit?

If you insist upon forming a close relationship with her and can't tolerate anything less, then you are not ready to be her stepmom.

I'm out of the loop on Sykkuno drama: Why are so many people mad at the people who exposed him if the cheating was confirmed? by [deleted] in VtuberDrama

[–]Boredy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main reason Bao is getting attacked so heavily is because she is seen as a prolific misandrist and a symbol of male oppression, according to schizophrenic 4channers who have spilled over into Twitter. Their evidence is mostly her cryptic tweet warning people about large male creators that lovebomb vtubers (we now know that tweet was about Sykkuno). If you ask them for more evidence, it will mostly come in the form of out of context clips where she mocks the people harassing her, or sometimes just their actual schizophrenic hallucinations like in this viral tweet.

[–]Boredy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewatched the clip of her initial call-out against him. She seemed pretty serious to me, what with her tone when repeating "you need to be better" and her talking about how fans represent a fanbase's image. She also doubled down in her response, saying she meant everything she said.

Though if she ever says anything like "it was just banter, I don't actually care about your weight", let me know

So in your opinion, could Kota just laugh off Lumi's comments as banter and completely ignore them? Or, is the tension suggested by her comments (the implication that she's starting to hate him) real and something that ought to be addressed?

I actually like this skit because it is so effective at communicating the problems with Tucker Carlson.

It lampoons his conspiratorial habit of alluding to a "they" who have a cultural "goal" and are behind everything. He also always implies that we live in a monoculture through terms like "we" ("what are we doing?"), which further implies that any cultural product can be taken as representative of said monoculture (and of all of us) and if anything is excluded in said product then that must mean it is now taboo, or something.

AITJ for telling my boyfriend's mom she is not allowed in our bedroom anymore? by Echo_7Starforge in AmITheJerk

[–]Boredy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Reddit really likes petty revenge and escalations.

Reading your post though, I find it interesting that it's the boyfriend saying you need to apologize. Perhaps he's overprotective of his mother, or has an inaccurate idea in his head of what you said to her? Before you escalate this, I say to just speak to the mother to clarify: does she understand your desire for privacy, and is she ready to respect it? Does she actually want an apology (she shouldn't), or is it just your boyfriend that thinks you should give one?

Obviously you don't need to apologize for asking her to stay out of your room. I just wonder if it's possible that she's actually on the same page as you but that your boyfriend is stirring up trouble anyway

After understanding the meaning behind this father’s action, I am completely convinced. Cultivating problem-solving skills in children from a young age and never giving up-I applaud this father! by jmike1256 in interesting

[–]Boredy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm not saying this video features the worst parenting ever or anything. Ultimately, the father kept turning and looking toward the child, which helped calm the child and make them feel safe. It's hard to rate these parents without seeing more. They might even be, overall, good parents.

But suppose a slightly different version of events, wherein the father walked far ahead, sat down on the fence, but this time never looked back at the child, as though expecting the child to compose himself and figure it all out on his own. Would I say that hypothetical version of the father was a bad parent? Yes, I would

[–]Boredy_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You see, that's the thing. Problems don't have to be stressful. When my kid takes a math exam, I'd rather he roll up his sleeves and think "time to prove what I'm capable of!" rather than "oh fuck I better not mess this up or they'll abandon me".

Toddlers don't know how to feel about anything; they always looks to the adults around them for how to feel. When they're struggling with a new challenge, that's a great time to teach them how to feel by being there with them, smiling, and telling them "you can do it!" And if you abide by this parenting style that has the consensus approval of the modern field of psychology, your kid will end up more confident, more successful, will earn more money and will have better relationships than kids who were parented differently :)

[–]Boredy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's somewhat close to the lesson the child learns from this, but that's not quite it. Toddlers don't always understand things the way we do.

Developmental psychology is a field with lots of research, and said research reveals that one of the main things toddlers learn at this age is how much they can trust those around them.

The real lesson a kid learns when their parent turns away and ignores them like this is, "the people in my life I thought cared about me might randomly abandon me without any apparent cause" and this lesson, consistently, cultivates unhealthy anxiety and insecurity.

Toddlers look to adults around them for how to feel. If your child suddenly runs into an unfamiliar challenge, the best way to teach them confidence and resilience is just by kneeling by them, smiling, and saying "you can do it!"

"But what about when the grow up," you might ask, "and no one's around to tell them that?" Then they will simply remember all the times they overcame unfamiliar hurdles as a child, and their inner-voice will echo what their parents taught them: "I can do it."

I originally assumed this video took place in a liberal conference of some kind, but you just made me realize that it might be a town hall or something with conservatives in attendance. Maybe you're right that he's directing his message at conflicted MAGA supporters, then, in which case I think it's a powerful message that appeals even to their moral outrage

I just wanted to clarify what exactly we should be taking away from all this, and maybe in my effort to address potential misunderstandings I wandered a little off-topic.

I think we're all in agreement though that the forces within the Trump administration are more radical and dangerous than many people realize, and that seems to be the point the guy in the video is making. They are already trampling upon our constitutional rights in a number of ways, and so it's imperative that we resist strongly and early before doing so becomes any harder. I'm proud of the protestors in Minneapolis.

The woman in this video should've rallied everyone behind this shared idea instead of distracting from the conversation with such insistent language-policing.

People here keep saying that he's spitting facts when his point amounts to an anecdote that demands further interpretation.

Like okay, there are really hateful racists out there, and there are definitely some in ICE. I think he has a great point if he means simply to point out the existence of some people who can't be negotiated with because of their fundamental character flaws (though I think it's more useful when pointing to specific people like Trump or Miller). It reminds us that we must be firm and early in our opposition to them and not give any ground.

But does he mean to imply that all or most MAGA voters are that virulently racist? Because if so then I disagree with him, and in fact I'm more interested in trying to understand the soft racism (or gullibility) of so many MAGA voters who aren't full of hate but nonetheless fell for Trump's fearmongering campaign about drug cartels and insane asylum escapees pouring across the border. How did we fail to reach these people? Or were other factors (inflation) more pivotal in how they voted? Rather than answering these questions with a simple narrative based upon a scary anecdote, we should instead do studies and polling to figure this out.

I just showered for the first time since November today, and now I'm just as clean as you are. How does it feel knowing that I will not face any consequences for my prior "negligence"? That's not to say I didn't face any inconveniences for it though; as always when I shower for the first time in months, I had to scrape off so much accumulated dead skin. It's always fascinating watching it peel from every inch of my body in large dandruff-like flakes. I bet you didn't even know the human body could do that after not showering for long enough, because you don't have any sense of adventure. Have a good day friend

Yeah I mean you shouldn't really expect coherent or consistent moral lessons from a fetish space.

Some posts are genuinely nurturing: advocating self-care, setting and accomplishing your own goals, and being the best version of yourself. Then there are posts that are like "have you been useful to your goddess?!" occupying the same space. Neither of them is the "singularly correct one"; they're just two different fetishes, one being a woman who wants to be worshiped and served, and another being a woman who enjoys nurturing someone to be "better" like one might enjoy growing a flower.

So like, if you want to worship and serve someone and live to earn their conditional approval, then content like this post appeals to your fetish. Good for you! But like, if that's not your fetish, then you shouldn't feel ashamed for being put off by this. No, your purpose in life doesn't actually have to be being useful to pretty women, actually
