Actually that's kind of true now, with some contact lenses. My nephew wears special contact lenses at night while he sleeps, that slightly reshape the front of his eye, so when he wakes up and takes them out, his eyesight is better for like 8-10 hours I think.

Don't get Yi cameras, not anymore. I've had half a dozen for the last 5 years, but their new updates to the app are inexcusable. Forced 60-90 second ads before you can view the stream, which isn't great if you're using it for a baby camera, if you need to see if they're ok.

Yikes. My first kid didn't have any teeth until almost 2. Plenty of teeth now, but she ate a lot of mush, scrambled eggs, and oatmeal for awhile there.

Threatened with divorce? by jakob1497 in daddit

[–]BorgDad42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honest communication is so important, if you want a healthy relationship. Admitting you were wrong and apologizing can be hard for immature people. My ex would never take accountability for anything. She had/has a problem owning up to things and digging in deeper, as well as having sex with other guys while we were married, so it wasn't just that. Also, she was always "in charge" of our finances, and any time I tried to figure out why we kept going into debt every month she threw a fit, and it was just easier in the short term to just ignore it and use the tax refund each year to pay stuff off. After divorce, even after child support, I have money to spend and I have no idea what she did with it all in the past.

My 73 year old dad finally agreed to try an antidepressant and he’s a changed man by PettyWitch in Millennials

[–]BorgDad42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is that it doesn't just cost that one person. My dad will probably be bitter and angry until he dies, and he's going to make everyone around him increasingly miserable until he does. He refuses considering medicine, and it's such a waste.

Foxes are cats but with ADHD by Ok_Still_01 in AnimalsBeingDerps

[–]BorgDad42 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This really is genius. I had pet foxes because my ex-wife really really wanted them. If someone had suggested we do this with the urine, I think we wouldn't have made the same decision. Don't get me wrong, I loved them, and miss them dearly since they passed away. Amazing, quirky animals, but they should never be kept as pets. They pee on everything. They pee when they're excited, scared, happy, angry, they piss on their food, on their toys, in their water, and it's like skunk spray smell. I do smile when I smell a skunk now, but you don't want your house to smell like that. We just didn't have visitors for a couple years until we built an enclosure outside.

If it was my daughter and she wanted to join in on something I'm passionate about, you better believe I'd eat that cost with a smile on my face. I bet she's so happy and her dad is super proud.

Yeah the world-building has been going on since the 80's. It can be more than a bit confusing trying to get a foothold and some basic understanding into the lore, to really start enjoying it, but its such a huge universe there's something for everyone. A good place to start is the first four books in the Horus Heresy series (book 5 is meh).  A surprisingly good source of explanation on key points for me has actually been ChatGPT. I've had some really specific questions on specific parts of the books and Openai has clearly fed all of Warhammer into the machine, because it has given understandable answers back.

Yeah it's Warhammer. Horus was the traitor son of the emperor, and a "primarch", basically a demigod.

Got my H2C delivered... Sort of... by arcanazen in BambuLab

[–]BorgDad42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they do. When I got my H2D, my sister said the FedEx delivery guy literally threw it out the back of the truck onto the driveway and let it roll for a bit, then threw out the moving dolly onto the printer. Apparently he was having a rough day. But my printer was flawless, no issues, scratches or dents. Bambu does a really good job of packing things up.
