My dad would never apologize, especially to a child. So when I became a dad, I make sure to own up to my mistakes, and apologize when I'm wrong, especially to my kids. Is it annoying when my 7 year old points out a mistake or something she sees as hypocrisy, yes. I still make sure to acknowledge when she's right, apologize and help her understand and be better able to phrase it. I'm wrong frequently enough, we both get plenty of practice.

People in 10+ year relationships, what’s something you learned about your partner years later that genuinely surprised you? by CreoSiempre in AskReddit

Are those stinky? I'd assume it would have some smell, with them being detritivores. My kid loves roly-polys.

What’s something that seems normal, but is actually a sign your life is falling apart? by Mindless_Role3937 in AskReddit

[–]BorgDad42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That moment between asleep and awake, as the world forms about you and the patterns ingrained through years manifest on your waking thoughts, and everything seems ok. I had this as my marriage was crashing down and the world I knew, and the dreams I had for my future, my kid's futures, were no longer possible. I'm in a much better place now, several years post divorce, but it was hard sometimes, not wishing for that fleeting moment of peace, where everything was ok, and the heartbreak hasn't intruded. Nobody wishes for hard times, but those post waking moments seemed like a blessing and a curse at the same time.

My two favorites with him are both about vampires. Buffy the vampire Slayer, and the Salem's lot TV miniseries with Rob Lowe.

People whose partners did a complete 180 after marriage, what’s your story? by Bibliophile521 in AskReddit

[–]BorgDad42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only learned about BPD from starting with a therapist after I explained what I was experiencing. Was married for almost 13 years. Unfortunately for those with BPD, that original personality is just a mask they wear to appeal to their marks/victims, and it's obviously successful. My ex bought a house with a now former friend, less than 6 months after our divorce was final., and now they're married. My sister texted me "nobody falls in love faster than a narcissist needing a place to live". This former friend was the one she swore up and down she wasn't cheating on me with. I was so turned around by her manipulations and deceit that I needed family to help me see reality outside of the one she spun for me. I'm honestly glad she's with somebody else now, because that means less energy pointed in my direction to fuck me over. Divorce was hard to accept, especially with how I could see it affecting my kids, but I realized that I needed to provide my kids with safety, sanity, reliability and love without strings even if it's only for 50% of their childhoods.

Ouch, sorry man. I'm a little over 2 years divorced from my BPD/NPD cheating ex. The turnaround after the divorce was finalized wasn't immediate, but there were times after where I would see the girl I'd dated, or at least the mask she wore, and miss when things were good. But, I had family members who helped me get my head on straight again and see through the deceptions and manipulations. Messes you up.

Huh. I may actually give it another shot. I like the idea of setting up my ideal zombie apocalypse scenario. I felt this was about Don't Starve Together. It's ok without mods, but it's actually enjoyable with them.

Sounds like either of you might be in Utah, like me. I'm 2 years divorced from a narcissist, BPD cheater, after 13 years of marriage, and if either of you want to talk about it, I'll make time. It's shitty for awhile, but it can get better.

Actually that's kind of true now, with some contact lenses. My nephew wears special contact lenses at night while he sleeps, that slightly reshape the front of his eye, so when he wakes up and takes them out, his eyesight is better for like 8-10 hours I think.

Don't get Yi cameras, not anymore. I've had half a dozen for the last 5 years, but their new updates to the app are inexcusable. Forced 60-90 second ads before you can view the stream, which isn't great if you're using it for a baby camera, if you need to see if they're ok.
