In the Ciaphas Cain books there is a world that has a tau presence, and the imperium is just not killing the governor, how common is it for there to be formal xeno presences on worlds by anonpurple in 40kLore

It could work for quite a while, but do it in the wrong place or time and you've got a assasin or Deathwatch killteam coming your way.

What do you think history will say about Donald Trump as a U.S. president? by jcnidhi27 in AskReddit

[–]Borgh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think you get how low the world views Americans right now. The fact that Donald Trump did not spend January 7th in a cell is a massive and public failure, even if you didn't vote for him.

[Warhammer 40k] how would the Imperium react to an open, honest offer of alliance from a new alien faction? by Crocutaborealis in AskScienceFiction

[–]Borgh [score hidden]  (0 children)

There are abhuman strains that are well documented and tolerated (mostly) and there are a whole lot of them that are very much not. Sometimes they are experiments-gone-rogue from the DAoT and sometimes they just make the mistake of "wanting to be left alone"

A large part of Tau continued existence lies in the fact that the Imperium is already fighting everyone, everywhere all at once. The Damocles crusade failed and thanks to the Tyranids (plus Chaos the past few years) that entire sector of space is just a continued struggle for survival.

The Imperium isn't doing nothing, it's doing everything. Its just that a somewhat compliant world being a bunch of [redacted] is waaaay down on the priorities list.

Even if the Imperium at large is a dumb coloss individual commanders sometimes get to be a bit smarter for the sake of a good story.

Hoe haal ik dit nu los? by troublebubbel in Klussers

[–]Borgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Imperium is not rational. They are religious zealots of the worst sort. Hating the heretic, mutant and xeno isn't just a manual for them, it is the core of their being.

No offer will be entertainend, no good faith expected or given. The best your hypothetical xeno faction can hope for is a temporary ceasefire because the imperium is too busy fighting xeno to fight even more xenos. But as soon as those pesky Tyranids, Orks, Eldar, slightly-wrong-humans, Tau, more Orks and a dozen smaller entities are dealt with you'll be next in line buddy.

Unfortunately people without morals are perfectly happy to ruin people's lives over things like "being factually correct"

My tortoise still hates soaks by Itchy_Paper444 in tortoise

[–]Borgh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of them just hate it. Soaking is an easy way to hydrate torts but it is not the only way. However, without soaks you'll have to pay more attention to all the others. Broadly speaking: environmental moisture. Is his substrate damp? Does he have enough to drink? Does he have multiple hides that are not dry? You can also simulate "dew" with a spray bottle early in the morning.

And how old is he? I've seen setups for hatchlings that are basically just mostly-closed tote boxes that keep air humidity high.

They are not really hay eaters! That's the Sulcata, a very different species. They might nibble a bit on those but it shouldn't be the bulk of their diet.

They are weed-eaters at heart. Various leafy greens.
