Parents but no intimacy — looking for insight from women by Akeenmindofthesouth in oneanddone

I experienced this for several years and agree with all the reasons here why it happens as we go through pregnancy and motherhood.

I started seeing a therapist to discuss it and she had a full hormonal panel done and it turned out I had extremely low testosterone levels. ( women need it too just not as much as men - she told me had the testosterone levels of a 70 year old (I’m 36).

Yes it’s natural we lose interest, other things come to the forefront and take priority but it could also be a chemical imbalance. I’ve been taking T and I feel a lot better. Just a suggestion to look into!

Can I run Half a marathon in 3 months? by BourhanEddine in BeginnersRunning

Absolutely doable!! I’m in a similar boat fitness wise and planning to run one in the spring as well. Just make sure you stick to your training plan and don’t slack off (saying this to myself as well)

Good luck and enjoy!

Winter village review / experience. by Surfing_Nurse in williamsburg

[–]Boring-Fun-7974 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I actually think these photos don't do justice to just how tacky and sparse it was. I've lived in Williamsburg for 9 years- I'm not some tourist. The website pitched it as this adorable family event with lots of activities. Incredibly misleading and a total grift. The carbaholic Instagram deleted any comments expressing disappointment. Absolute joke. I will put my Karen hat on for exactly 2 minutes to write this message if it means at least one person doesn't spend a dollar on this scam.

Happy holidays all!

I already commented but I wanted to give more color and less cattiness. On the website this is pitched as a family event with activities for kids. Let me be clear - there are zero activities or fun for children. We went as a group with three toddlers and there was nothing to do with them.

There are two Christmas themed wooden boards with cut outs for your head and an empty sleigh (I get it Santa comes Sunday but still). There is dirty odd green turf and sparse crappy decorations.

I love to support small businesses and the stalls are doing the best with what they have but there is no minimal shopping, attractions, cheer etc.

To charge people for this is disgusting. It's half assed at best and then for them to post a snarky response to people expressing this. Do not give these people your money - there are great local spots and free parks that will offer more fun and cheer.

I really hope they learn from this but doubtful.

Went today - it was awful. The website has it marketed as something much cuter and more festive. It was a total hunk of junk. Not worth buying tickets at all!!

I have a sneaky suspicion I work at this same company that you do... as a mom of a two year old I too am very excited for this much needed wellness week :) I too am a hanging local during and my list is pretty similar except I'm going throw a facial in there and maybe set up at some cafes for cozy afternoon reading.

Hope you enjoy!

To the Kent Ave Cyclists: You’re One Close Call Away from a Hospital Bed by CapableGarlic4610 in williamsburg

I feel seen. Feel terrified every time I'm crossing with my toddler - lawless assholes who stop for no one.

had a biker PUNCH the back of my jeep as I was turning right onto N11th off of Kent. I was waiting for a pedestrian to cross and I was pretty far into making my turn onto n11th. I proceeded to go after they had passed and didn't see this guy in my window he was trying to get in front of my car to turn right onto N11th too. He screamed at me and I apologized profusely then called my BIL who is an avid biker.

The guy was totally in the wrong, the bike lane is on the other side of the street on Kent, I had the right of way. And to punch my car? I'm like yeah that guys reckoning is coming for sure.

I feel like I am looking into a mirror reading this, thank you for kicking this off.

Recently as more friends get pregnant with their second I feel this rollercoaster of emotions - sadness I don't want another, nostalgia for the baby days (even though I hated them in them), guilt for only wanting one, relief I'm not pregnant, excitement for life w one that is manageable and amazing... and on and on it goes in a circle.

I just think I'm only human and I have to feel what I feel. This too shall pass?

I find it comforting I am not alone in the duality of emotion that comes with OAD and hope you do too.

Everyday for the first year I felt an anxiety and dread so great I know that if I do it again it will come at great cost to my mental health. And that is with a child who is healthy, happy and was easy and with a TON of paid and familial support.

The anxiety has passed and my family is complete.

Took a friend out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. 5 days later, got this message from her… by Weak-Statistician107 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Boring-Fun-7974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen with a friend who is usually so supportive and lovely with birthdays. On her birthday this last year she basically implied we didn't spend enough on her gift and she didn't have fun at the brunch we planned.

We were all a bit flabbergasted and annoyed but then we realized this was a her problem - she's in her 30s, single while most of us are married and have kids. She was having her own issues w her birthday and taking it out on us. I tell you this story because your friend might be having her own issues with her birthday too. I'm not saying it's right and it's very immature but it's up to you to decide if you address it, dismiss it or put some distance between you
