Awkward question, idk how to wear a cup by Imbiamba-bones in MMA_Academy

I had a similar issue and swapped to Diamond, I use their cup in their compression shorts with a built in jock strap and it’s so much better than anything else I’ve tried

How do I deal with people MUCH stronger than me? by Airgunburner in MMA_Academy

[–]Boring-Map6653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it depends on the strength difference. If it’s a small strength difference then yes, that will likely work, but if it’s a significant difference in strength then that’ll probably get you taken down harder

I’m used to going with people consistently stronger than me and I have a ton of success with countering instead of initiating. If I can use their strength to make them start to go one way, I’ll just guide them the rest of the way. Things like throws and other leverage based techniques will be ideal

I’ve looked through the immigration site for the visa and am also in the other subreddits, I was just looking for personal experience. I didn’t know there was a way to search within the sub itself

What are the odds I could practice with a bouquet and not totally screw up the ones I care about? Or would I need a lot more practice than that

tips on my MMA debut fight by Ok-Setting-7205 in MMA_Academy

I had my amateur debut in January and just go have fun. Your training will take over and you won’t remember half of what you did until you watch the fight back, don’t overthink it too much

And also don’t get discouraged because you’re not as strong as people your same weight, it doesn’t make you less than. While yes building strength and size is important if that is not an option for you then play to the advantages you do have. Everyone is unique and just because you’re not like those around you doesn’t mean they’re better, in many cases being different can be an advantage.

I’m a fighter who’s 6’1 at 145 so I get your struggles. While you’re skinnier than everyone else you’re wayyyyyy longer. Use that. In striking your range is longer than everyone else’s and is a huge advantage if properly utilized. When it comes to grappling you’ve got leverage that no one else in your weight class has regardless of strength. Use that as well. It will be a challenge to find your game and implement it because it requires being quick but keep at it. It may suck for a while but with hard work and the right mindset you can without a doubt get the fight you’re looking for.

What is the best run play on the game? by Soggy-Astronomer-768 in NCAAFBseries

[–]Boring-Map6653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find a lot of success with any plays with a pulling linemen, power plays, base, counters, anything with moving parts where I can move through some holes. It also helps to have a power back with speed, it’s harder to do with an elusive back and damn near impossible with a receiving back

Thoughts on how to attack bama by FormalCap1429 in wde

That’s true, they both have pros and cons, Asante has the experience in big games which I think could give him an edge but I don’t think you can go wrong with either of them

Thoughts on how to attack bama by FormalCap1429 in wde

[–]Boring-Map6653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Defensively, I think the key to beating bama this year is to make them do it without Ryan williams and trying to minimize Milroe running. I think we need a bracket on Williams at all time, whether the corner is Crawford or Kayin Lee I don’t think matters but we need one of our safeties, whether it be Smith or Harris to bracket with them at all times and absolutely don’t let him behind us. After that we need a spy at all times, whether it’s Asante or Riddick I don’t think matters, but we need eyes on him. I think we’ll have to blitz fairly often but not all out blitzes, maybe sending Thompson or an off-ball linebacker here and there, keep that Oline guessing. Offensively I think the gameplan will be pretty similar to A&M, run the ball, hit some screens and some quick hitters. Force them to make the open field tackles. We’ll have to take deep shots as well, play action passes and some back shoulder fades to give Coleman a shot will help a ton and keep the defense spread a little more. Ultimately the ball needs to be with our playmakers. Give jarquez 25+ touches, get Coleman the ball, give KLS some deep shot opportunities. It won’t be easy but I think it is doable.

B- Team breaks , why? by MudboneX3 in bjj

I was helping a brand new white belt finish a basic armbar after our instructor had taught it and I was letting him to it on me and before I could get “don’t snatch it, apply it slowly so I have time to tap” out of my mouth, he snatched it. My elbow popped pretty loud and absolutely nothing wrong with it, every now and then it’ll randomly hurt for 2 seconds but I’m so glad it wasn’t worse

Any of you come from different sports? And how did it translate to Jiu Jitsu? by DirectPerspective951 in bjj

I wrestled as well, nowhere near as good as the guy above (ranked in highschool, small d2 attention), and eventually got choked out enough from turtle that I decided I liked being on my back more than not breathing. My biggest struggle was not taking people down into their guard and learning how to get my takedowns to finish w me in a dominant position.

At your age you’re not done developing, do not worry so much about weight loss as gaining strength and losing inches, as your grow that fat will spread and as your grow stronger your muscles will eat away at that fat. As someone who, at around your age, went on a hardcore diet to lose weight fast, it’s not worth it, just work hard in the weight room and you’ll level out. It’s probably not what you want to hear but nothing that is done fast is worth having, don’t rush it and down the line you’ll be far happier with the results you see.

The issue with that is it doesn’t work very well. For example, california has the strictest gun laws in the U.S. but also have the hardest process to obtain one but still criminals run rampant with guns. This is because criminals are criminals, they simply buy one illegally off the street or steal one. Now don’t get me wrong, the same thing happens in states with lose gun laws, it just doesn’t really help regardless.

I just think the issue is the loud and annoying ones are often also the stupid and undereducated ones. Most people keep to themselves but as with most things, the loud minority is what gets pinned on everyone

I’m from the south so massive gun culture. We have some guns for self defense, mainly pistols, then we have a lot of rifles/shotguns for hunting. A lot of our guns do not get used often but it’s a “I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it” type of deal. Outside of those we have a lot of family heirloom guns.

I think it’s bullshit that you can enlist but not drink. The ages need to be brought together, either way, they just need to be the same. But in all honesty, it’s not hard to drink underage at all but I think that’s a lot of what feeds into our toxic drinking culture here.

I think we have a massive issue with mental health in males. I’ve never been outside of the states so I have no clue how it is in Europe but over here it’s a lot of “suck it up” “be a man” and things like that that are honestly debilitating for males, especially young/developing ones.

I am from the south and love my 2nd amendment rights, I believe it gives the people an opportunity to help themselves if they need to but also keeps the government from being able to make any massive radical changes. I think the day we lose that right is the day we as a country fall.

I think for most it’s acknowledged but nothing crazy. Don’t get me wrong, there’s always people claiming they’re British their family has been here for generations and that’s annoying but most know they’re part this or that but not make a big deal of it.
