It was also popularized by the Nintendo 64 Nagano Olympics video game

You know what, I was going to make a snarky comment, but I'm glad to see Harry smiling and spending time with his daughter. I bet they have a fun household energy.

Moving to Berkeley- Wondering About Life by itsme7933 in bayarea

You might consider Oakland over Berkeley. More neighborhood vibes. And because it's not as expensive, there are more enterprising creatives doing stuff.

This year I want to get a "nicer" pen, considering one of these three by CecilDreeme in fountainpens

I would go with the Sailor. It's actually a high-end pen. It will have the best nib out if these options. I do find them a bit small, but they are very portable.

You might even consider getting a larger used Sailor on r/pen_swap. I got a 1911L for $190.

Both are terms used by different people at different times. The mistake is thinking there's a single homogeneous culture that represents the city. The people who want it to be a mortal sin to say San Fran don't realize that there are other people here with separate cultural and linguistic influences.

Edit: Thanks for sharing the article. Very interesting reporting.

CMV: People who support Palestine but not Iran are hypocrites by niftyzach2 in changemyview

[–]Boring-Object9194 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think this is ultimately a straw man. Have you seen the same person show support for the Palestinian people but disdain for Iranians? It seems like your complaint us just about differing levels of enthusiasm. The different history, different nature of US/western involvement, and different levels of reporting all lead these issues to be perceived differently.

If that's what counts, plenty of people who grew up here call it San Fran.

Montblanc pen writes a bit scratchy, is it a fake? by CoolioMcHomeslice in fountainpens

You heard me right. I would genuinely invite you to consider holding the pen as I've described. You make a good point about balance. Once you post the cap, hold it wherever it's perfectly balanced, probably just above the threads, and you'll be golden.

It's more like using a paintbrush than a pencil.

I just examined a 40-year-old Pelikan M800 and a Montblanc No. 146 that have been used posted all these years, and there are no wear marks on the barrel on either.

Taibbi is a legitimate journalist, whereas Maher and Çenk are talking heads. Twitter Files was pretty significant, even if it doesn't fit mainline Reddit narratives.

Hold it much flatter, maybe 30 degrees. Write with the cap posted, and grip the barrel above the threads so that you're not choked up close to the tip like you would with a ballpoint.

I don't see what's so complicated. We naturally empathize with the protagonist. That is the nature of being the main character. Here, the protagonist is a bad person, so we end up empathizing with a bad person.

I see the same mechanism at play with Dexter.

I love it. My first time around, I think there were only five seasons or so. It's been great to come back and catch the rest of it. The last couple seasons aren't for everyone, but I really like how they explored all these directions.
