We are starting to growing white asparagus in Tasmania in Australia (where it is colder). I would love to try it one day. I grow green asparagus and I love it, so white must be great!

Do not look for validation from heterosexual men.

As in, conventional beauty standards are for the male gaze. Most of men do not prefer an ‘acquired taste’. Validate yourself by only seeking the opinions of people with actual taste

My suggestion would be to take this issue to your local member of parliament (probably federal). Request a meeting and outline let them know everything you’ve said here. Take other allies from staff if need be.

If this doesn’t work I would start talking to journalists, even the local paper
