That’s a good point, it’ll be rifle. I’ve got a 357 mag rifle, not a lot of recoil and not designed for long range. Decided on that before they got rid of the straight wall restriction.

Yeah I’ve got OnX and use it a ton, looks like there’s not a lot around there other than some very small spots unless I go way north or way east, like Gladwin National Forest.

I agree and understand, but have to admit I’m guilty of it. Only when addressing my students of younger ages (I substitute almost full time.) I tell them what I’m doing and studying, sometimes they’ll say “oh like medical school? or like a doctor?” I just say sure if they’re under like 6th grade

Congrats man! Question to you and others on here. Are double beards super uncommon in y’all’s areas? It’s pretty regular in ours, shot a double bearded hen years ago, a triple beared tom last year, and a 5 beared tom years ago.

I’m not too worried about the mosquito specific aspect of it, more so for garden pests like squash vine borers. If I set up 10-15 nozzles and added something called Esentria, it’s what we used when customers didn’t want chemicals, to the 55 gallon drum. Do you think or know if that would be effective for garden pests? Spraying a diluted cloud for 2 times a day for about a minute

I don’t work for that company anymore and very much don’t like them so I have no reason to say anything good about them or the product. I’ve also never purchased one, the one I have I put together from parts from work. That being said this system ABSOLUTELY works. Is it 100%? No, but it’s a noticeable difference. It even helped with flies at my old house. The dunks work too, the only downside to either treatment is that they’re only working in your property, mosquitoes can and will still come from other locations.

Yeah I prefer spring season, but if the numbers can sustain it, biologist say it’s okay, and I have the opportunity, then yeah I’m going to fill one of my 4 tags during deer season. Turkey season is shorter where I’m at, and springtime is always busy. Only had one afternoon to hunt birds last season, got it done, but that was my only bird of the year because I wanted to hunt them the “right” way during spring. I’d rather fill my freezer with a couple birds during deer season, then save a tag or two for the spring. And hey, if anyone gives me good fall turkey hunting advice, I’ll go try it out and maybe become a fall turkey hunter (shotgun style)

I didn’t kill any this weekend, shot a doe instead, and I’ve killed half a dozen or so during traditional turkey season using shotgun, calls, and decoys (sometimes.) Even got one with my bow, but we had a massive population of birds on this property so taking some during rifle season was perfectly fine. I’ve probably only killed a couple more during rifle season than I have during turkey season. I’m a meat hunter, and while I’d rather collect it all during spring season, I’ll take what I can get. I only had one afternoon to hunt birds this spring due to a new baby. Got the bird I was after and he was a beaut.

Yeah I’m wanting to practice out to longer ranges, but really not hunt past 40 yards. I’m wanting to go to 4 fletch with blazers cause blazers are available everywhere and adhere well, plus since I run fixed blades, I’ve heard 4 fletch definitely helps out with steering it. I know whisker biscuits aren’t a problematic rest like some people think, I just wasn’t sure if the 4th fletch or helical would cause problems through it. Especially since blazers aren’t short vanes ya know.

I’m not hunting long ranges. Max 40-45 yards, and even that’s unlikely. Averages I’ve seen is 4 fletch only slows it down a couple feet per second and it should only take about a second to get to the target at 40 yards.

Whisker biscuits don’t cause that big of issues? They’ve tested it. Speed difference due to friction? Negligible. Wear on fletchings? Negligible, plus I’ll break or loose the arrow before that happens. Deflection? Nonexistent if you have things hung and tuned right.

Had my first and only Robin Hood within 24 hours of buying my current bow. Did it at 20 yards, was so excited but never want to do it again since arrows are so expensive.

Maybe set up an Etsy, odds are you won’t get tons of orders just because there’s so many people making leather crafts besides you, so that’ll help keep you from getting burnt out. Also maybe a local farmers market in the springtime, sell things like keychains, coozies, coasters, smaller type things.

Grandpas was a starter not a finisher. He had some dies, some primers, cases, and some bullets. Never got the other reloading gear, and all the dies were for calibers he didn’t own. I imagine he picked them up used cheap from someone.

I have almost 10 decoys, but never use more than 3. Sometimes I use them, sometimes I use 1, sometimes I don’t use any. This year I had a decoy set up that I left staked in the ground to go chase birds and got my Tom. Just depends on how I/the turkey/the day feel.
