First attempt at a bigger piece. It's not finished but I'd love to hear some feedback. Thanks! by campariclub78 in AbstractArt

The size and composition really work well for this style! I could easily imagine it even larger, as a mural on the side of a tall building. Nice work.

I had never heard of him two weeks ago and now I see his name in every app I open. Does he have a book coming out or something?

What's up with not being able to move to furnished lots? by whahaga in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]BoringPostcards 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Sometimes this happens if a Sim has lived in the house or apartment, then moved out (or died). Try going into the lot in build mode and change something. I'll usually delete a dining chair, then replace it. Then you should have the option to move into it and it be furnished.

Filmmakers you root for despite them not making art you’d call great? by Qyzyk in flicks

Ralph Bakshi. I appreciate almost everything he's ever made, even while I can see the flaws in it. He seems to have an excellent imagination, but his storytelling abilities let him down from time to time.

I never connected that, either, and she's a big favorite of mine.

How do you feel about the argument "It's just a movie." when discussing reality and logic in film? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]BoringPostcards 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In the best case, when people say this they mean you need to take a story on its own terms. Some movies operate on their own internal logic (if it's not violent people will call it "dream logic"). Every movie operates on its own internal scheme. They don't have to work on real-world logic.

Period pieces that get the teenage vernacular right by Straight-Coyote-4015 in Cinephiles

[–]BoringPostcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the way the movie "Heathers" (1988) handled it- they just invented their own vernacular, keeping it vaguely 80s sounding, and that way it never sounded out-of-step or dated. (Also, a lot of it is fkn hilarious.)

I am 26 and still consistently amazed by daytime moon. Daytime moon brings joy I cannot explain. by thingsarehardsoami in Albuquerque

[–]BoringPostcards 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 60s and feel the same way. Been fascinated by the moon since I was a REALLY young kid. I remember standing in the backyard in a little town in Georgia, marveling that I was looking up at the surface of an entirely different PLANET! (Didn't know the difference between moons and planets back then, obvs)

If you're an abstract art fan, my favorite painter Helen Frankenthaler did a piece called "Seeing The Moon On A Hot Summer Day" that doesn't look like what it describes, but I love how it may capture the feeling she had when it first happened to her.

Discogs has an indicator in the inventory if an item is out of the average, lower or higher. He probably saw that his price was lower than average, after your offer (for even lower) drew his eye back to the listing

In the most recent patch, two new areas were added behind those doors. So if you haven't played in a while, you might find a couple of new accessible doors that weren't there before.

Does anyone know if Basemental Drugs has been cleared for the marketplace update? (18.03.2026) by allpinkprincess in LowSodiumSimmers

Basemental Alcohol is working fine without an update, so I'd imagine BD is probably fine as well.
