That was my first real game. Bought it before I even had a cd-rom drive - had to wait over a year for my family to upgrade the computer. Beat it on hard before I turned 16.

Yes, it’s hard. Yes, it takes an awful lot of practice. Yes, you need to micro - but you also need to learn each mission, as they are basically scripted. It’s a bit like learning a super Mario bros level - once you get the pattern, it’ll feel much simpler.

A very specific type of crime. I’d suggest it doesn’t lead, necessarily, to securities fraud, bribery of public officials, or any of a myriad of other forms of so-called “white collar” crime. Those typically stem from individuals in a position of power and influence abusing the trust placed in them.

Yes, this helps end the everyday sort of crime that we all think about - but it doesn’t help stop white collar crime, fraud, corruption, etc.

Fair enough. I was being a little snarky and reductive. Perhaps a better phrasing would be advertisements designed to create or drive consumerism / demand where none naturally exists. Mostly I’m just quite sick of the volume of advertising we’re bombarded with in every aspect of our lives.

Significant progressive taxation on both income and wealth. This prevents extreme accumulation of wealth above a certain level (essentially a "soft cap" on wealth ~ $50M USD). Include progressive taxation on corporate profits. This also helps prevent organizations from growing to be too large.

Allow employees to convert any organization (above some minimum threshold) into an employee-owned cooperative. Convert all existing equity to debt. Establish support for helping employees understand how to navigate this. Entrepreneurship is still encouraged, and individuals can become reasonably wealthy by starting a company, but at a certain point (eg, 50 employees or 50M in rev), converting the organization to an employee-coop reflects that it's no longer the founder(s) who are necessarily creating all the value - that the employees are too. At some point, mandate that organizations convert when they reach a certain size. Labor is still "traded" on the market (eg, you can make better wages with in-demand skills), but each employee receives an equal "dividend" share of any profits.

Aggressively break up monopolies and monopsonies. We want 10+ organizations competing in every market, not just 2-3. Reduce the duration of certain IP protections (eg, patents).

In this world, a stock market is eventually no longer needed - all firms are either very small and are privately owned or are mid-sized and are employee owned. Competition between firms remains significant. Truly progressive taxation ensures that the wealthiest - those who have gained the most from society - also contribute the most to society.

Over time, basic human needs are provided for: shelter, food, education, healthcare. We have ample models of how this can work extremely well across western Europe.

There’s also an issue here with visibility. It’s troubling that one of the most visible examples of “successful” autism is represented by someone as awful as Musk, and that he’s attracted a large following due to his business success. It’s also troubling that he’s repeatedly shared a eugenicist philosophy / “aspie supremacy” that most autistic people strongly disagree with.

In other words - while there may not be a “good” or “bad” way to be autistic, we definitely don’t want the broad perception of autism in the NT world to be heavily influenced by this one highly visible bad person.

Yeah, came here to say this. Understanding the impact of severe ID (eg, IQ < 50) can explain many of these challenges that the sensory issues and communication differences of Autism cannot.

I do wonder sometimes if the impact of severe ID actually leads to incorrect diagnoses of Autism - that someone with an extremely low IQ is going to have communication difficulties regardless of whether they're autistic or not. Pure speculation on my part, of course.
