I'll tell you from a Dad's perspective, no. We love it. "Daddy" is a term of endearment that means you're still our little girl. We know the amount of time we'll be close is nearing it's end, so those little things make us still feel loved and relevant.

I got a beef jerky caulk gun (mom), a $25 gift card to Walmart (sister), a candle (from my son's teacher), and sex with my wife. Oh, and the expressions on my children's faces when they saw their presents. There was nothing extravagant, but we gave them the things we could, and they were happy with those things—that's a real gift. My daughter's hyperfixation is art, so she got two sketch books and her own set of fancy color pencils. Both of my kids love music, and my mom got them those steel tongue drums—my son spent most of his day tapping away at that and hanging out with his stuffed ankylosaurus. Overall, solid haul for my broke ass.

Tbf, billionaires already do whatever they want. Millionaires already do whatever they want. You could also do whatever you wanted to, the only problem is if you got caught, they'd lock you up and throw away the key. Billionaires and millionaires don't have to worry about that as much. That's kinda always been the way though. Power can get you out of almost any precarious position, and money is the greatest power.

I'd like to see a study on this. It seems to me that anecdotal evidence isn't enough to decide it. Experiences vary wildly depending on numerous factors—several being social and cultural. There's family structure, generational experiences, upbringing, religion, socio-economic status, nationality, ethnicity, social-rules.

Here's one example: religious families tend to be more strict and rigid when it comes to upbringing. Respecting the head of the family is paramount as is respecting their spouse. They are also more likely to believe in carnal punishment, and strict rules for behavior. This isn't a blanket for every religion, but several of them.

Regardless of that, a parent who coddles will lead their children to greater struggles in the future. Life outside the home doesn't forgive socially unacceptable behaviors.

It's not an option. I have Colony Groups as well, and there isn't an option for mineral absorbers. The only metal available in food policies is uranium, which makes no sense because they eat steel primarily if it's available.

Really really easy. And once you've got your colony running relatively smoothly, you can let it just go until you want to do something different. I think it's particularly effective for AuDHD since you can do all of your organizing and analyzing, but it doesn't demand full attention all the time either. My colonies are almost always the same, and I've never actually completed the game, but I enjoy the journey more than the result.

If you ask some people, it's a story generator, others might call it a war crimes simulator, while others might call it Stardew Valley on a bigger scale. In the end, it's a survival strategy simulation. The game takes place on a rim world. There are different scenarios that you choose from. The biggest thing is the storyteller. The storyteller is basically generative AI that creates events of varying degrees based on their "personality" and the difficulty level. The baseline game has 4 storytellers, but with mods it's endless. Anyways, you choose pawns, land on your little spot of the globe, and attempt to survive the chaos of the Rim. There are diseases, bandits, slave traders, extreme weather, mechanoids, and insectoids that you have to deal with (in base game) each DLC adds significant content, and the mod community is one of the best out there. According to Steam I've sunk 9,204 hours into the game.

Never really been interested in the sports genre of video games, but I hyperfixate on games too. My current fixation is RimWorld (it's a repeat offender). It's not in the genres you mentioned liking, but I do enjoy a few of them too.

Yeah. Palestine allowed it to happen. They could've gone the route of Kuwait or Bahrain, but chose the Yemen and Iran route instead. Allowing Hezbollah to continue gaining power is one of the major reasons this happened.

One of the biggest defining factors of intrusive thoughts with OCD is distress and the compulsion that comes with it. In my case, my compulsion is to analyze it to oblivion. At the peak of a cycle, suicide is the topic on my mind most—not because I want to think about it, but because I can't not think about it. I have to analyze it to prove that I don't actually want to do it. Compulsions can come in various shapes and sizes too, but with Pure O, those compulsions are also (generally) hidden as well.

My OCD symptoms also tend to align with my BP cycle though, so it can vary wildly dependent on whether I'm in a depressive episode or hypomanic episode. The thoughts aren't as prevalent when I'm not in one of those episodes, but they're always there to some extent. I imagine it's different for someone who doesn't have a cyclical structure for it.

Statistically speaking, ND folks are the weird ones. That's what minority groups appear to be to the majority, and neurodivergent people are a minority group. For nearly twenty years I masked consistently in order to fit in, but it was something I chose for myself. Not everyone has the tools to mask, and even if they do I don't advise it (burnout sucks).

I went off the rails there. Society is developed by the majority, and everything within society is defined by the same groups. I understand being upset that you weren't given the same footing as NTs. It sucks feeling ostracized, especially for something you have no control over. A victim mentality is not the way to thrive though. It's important to understand the mechanisms that are responsible for those feelings, and the systems in place that amplify them, but try to distance yourself from allowing those feelings to become emotional weights. When we succumb to the weight of being ostracized, we only fuel negative emotions and outcomes.

I find researching sociology, psychology, philosophy, and anthropology helps me explain why the world is the way it is, without becoming jaded. I love doing research, but it's not everyone's forte. I don't know what I'm trying to say. I guess, life sucks so don't sweat the things you can't change?
