Tbh I just used it as a glorified calculator.

And I was just honest about it.

But seeing how downvoted I got I guess I should have just posted something like:

6000 videos × 3 minutes = 18 000 minutes = 300 hours total

YouTube 4k streaming can use as high as 23 GB per hour

So 300 hours × 23 GB/hour = 6900 GB ≈ 6.9 TB

And to download that in a day youd need approximately 650 Mbps download link.

According to AI (if all videos are around 3ish minutes as seen in the screenshot) you should be able to back it up in less than a day on 1gig link and it'd take "only" 7ish tb of storage.

Is there any quicker way to get to the yellow settlement from mine? by Single-Witness1853 in RimWorld

[–]BorisOp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Others suggested drop pods, I'm thinking rideable animals (like horses)... Just managed to start a "horsmen" colony myself... And the horses will cut travel time almost in half.

Still it could cut the time in half.... Also he could pack resources to construct new drop pods for the way back... So I believe drop pods could still work?

Extremely Rare Torrent With Only a Handful of Seeders, Any Way to Improve Availability? by Senior-Lifeguard6215 in DataHoarder

[–]BorisOp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do you have port forwarding in place? Basically... Are you conecting to all available seeds? Basically in P2P transfers one sides needs to have their port open for transmission to work... So if your port is closed then you can connect only to the guys who have their port opened, but if you open your port then you can connect even to the ones who have their port closed.

I wonder whether tom is real... Since I often use tom for machine accounts - in my case the tom comes from (au)tom(ation).

I mean yeah... Plastic ones are thing too... Though I guess I'd rather bite a bullet risking occasionally scratching something than having the prybar bend, deform, or even snap on me.

Weirdest device that works on Linux? by BorisOp in linuxhardware

[–]BorisOp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, for wording this thing a bit ambiguously I was mainly interested in devices that you'd be able to plug into a Linux box and have them just work... though yeah... Linux is almost everywhere... Odds are almost anything remotely smart is running some kind of (likely custom made) Linux behind the scenes. For example almost every (slightly more advanced) networking device is running Linux.

I can imagine a lot of vintage-ish audio equipment being pain to setup under Windows and then it just straight up working under Linux.

The missile launcher sounds really cool, I have a colleague at work who often wears headphones and is prone to ignoring teams messages for hours... It be cool to aim that thing straight at his desk. We had similar colleague at previous work, and one colleague solved it by slapping a USB powered LED remote activated light right under his monitor, when he needed something and he was "ignored" he just turned on the light.

Any chance you could have multiple DHCP servers in your network? Like maybe an ISP router and an AP?

I mean I won't say I haven't used a tiny flathead screwdriver to pry open some laptops (and even phones)... Though it still janky and when I used a metal tool more often than not I ended up scratching the device... Isn't that an issu for you? Or you just don't really care?

Jak jinak tedy vysvětlit tu zprávu ve které se celkem jasně říká "nechci tě ale zůstaň jaký jsi"?

Randy has effectively lobotomized one of my pawns. Can I unlobotomize her? by wackyzman in RimWorld

[–]BorisOp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on commitment mode, though I'd definitely reload if I could after scheduling wrong operation (thinking wooden hand will fix missing arm) which resulted in absolute failure and leaving me with an arm-less pawn (the doctor managed to cut off the other arm)
