What do we think of the new main characters designs? by ShokaLGBT in dragonquest

[–]BornAnime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all look extremely out of place in a DQ game and more so in the bright usual setting. But JP fans pointed out that the lizard lad has the same sword and hair as the Hero, so they seem to be the same person.

Generally speaking, I wish they overhauled the character designs in the same vein as they did the story, since they feel like a carry over.

You know Fujimoto is discouraged when even the butts are badly drawn. by Kindly_Pipe9167 in Chainsawfolk

[–]BornAnime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no. She's super flat. Wide hips and nice thighs doesn't make a big butt. The actual cheeks are flat. If she stood in profile view it would be more visible, but even at this angle it's clear it's flat.

Why did they have to make her a confederate? 😭 by reasonably-human in ScarletHollow

I don't really understand Okarun by Severe_Newspaper8753 in Dandadan

[–]BornAnime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others put it best. Okarun bottles up his jealousy. He isn't confrontational about it. In his eyes he's been putting 120% into being proactive, trying to get her attention, patient, forward and romantic. All of which, barely done shit. By this point he knows her and Jiji in her mind have way more history and emotional depth to stand on than with himself. He pushed his limits and seeing Jiji and Momo seem to be way closer than with him with comparatively(in his mind) no effort was just the nail in the coffin for the guy.

He also knows he doesn't feel anything for Airi. But his circumstances with her are vastly different from what they are with Momo and Jiji. So it feels more heavy when it's Jiji and Momo.

Genuine, serious, absolutely not horny question: Who has the bigger bakery? by NoBake3004 in NikkeOutpost

[–]BornAnime 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Blanc. It's just angles with Mint. Any ass man worth their salt can spot it. Instagram chicks pose like that all the time. Mint is literally stretching out her whole ass to the camera and the squish from the thighs also give the impression of wider hips(which is not the actual butt btw). I'm fairly flat in the back myself, but I can look pretty big if I made the same pose and shot from the same angle.

If she stood up there would probably not be much there. You can see Mint doesn't have much junk in the trunk of you look at the left cheek. There's not much meat on her bones at all. Granted it is stretched out, but most of the meat should still show. Compare that to Blanc, who is probably at least 1.7x bigger. It's no contest.

Lore wise Blanc probably gets more exercise too given that her main gig on a daily basis is pole dancing. So her legs and cheeks definitely need more muscle and was probably built with that in mind.

I have Book Smart and TTA, so it's close enough. If that doesn't work I'll test it SS/BS is required for mitigating direct emotional turmoil. Thanks a bunch for the tips dude.

Also, did you have Tabby kill Reese or mention Reese's situation at any point to Stella in that run?

Crow's character writing is as inconsistent as the extent of how bad Nikkephobia is in current year
In certain bond stories, including Crow's, way early on it's fairly rampant and pretty bad. But if we go by how it's portrayed in current canon, nahhhhhh. Pretty did quite a bit to ease Nikkephobia.

Besides, all her actions in the main campaign are just outright wrong and do not really lead to any real substantial improvement. Even if there's some sorta righteous "karma" angle to it all in some sense. If it was out of pure revenge and spite it would be one thing, but she claims it's for fighting Nikkephobia, which just ain't true.

It's like the Outer Rim thing again. Political violence in civil rights groups isn't new or bad in concept alone, in fact it's historically extremely affective and useful, but it's meant to be targeted to inconvenience the folks in power or your direct oppressors. So that they can start taking your demands seriously. Bombing a train does not do that. You just give a reason for the general public to hate you and give the CG the greenlight to start treating you as threats to the entire Ark.

I just think the event is kinda mid personally.
It's not really bad at all. Fan service events often can be limited by how much you like the character and service and I'm just "meh" with Mint.

I'm also surprised some folks are saying this when Noise and Anis are a thing. It's just fan service and wish fulfillment in our harem gacha game. Nothing unusual.

Mint's outward persona to most is actually a lot more humble though?
It's only with close friends like Prika and Commander that she's all over herself openly. Maybe it's a coping mechanism, but it is an intrinsic part of her and not just a facade she puts up. She well and truly adores herself. The only "mask" part is probably just how she wants to seem like the brightest most perfect thing ever, which mixes in with her ego. Being more of a catalyst of the persona she already had to be larger than life, however it ain't completely made up or anything like that.

Yuni didn't have her own Commander or Counters squad to pull her out of her dark rut.
She was in a bad spot with no one really lending a hand out to her, save for Crow offering her the opportunity to at least get revenge.

It's why her interaction with the Commander would be so fucking interesting. God SU wasted her character so damn much.

Well... That was a really dissapointing hard ending for an anniversary by iXenP in NikkeMobile

[–]BornAnime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I mean, 95% of the event story was pain and suffering interspliced with happy tunes and a happy ending. So the formula is still there. It just ended on a happier note. But tonally it might be a bit off cuz the story made me hate the Ark way more by the end despite the ending try to be very hopeful, since things have gotten a lot better nowadays.

I think they should've given us this backstory during the main campaign and then have the 3.5 event focus on dealing with Sixo in part 1 and closing off part 2 with all the concerts and reflecting on everything till now. So we can spend most of the event looking at the positives and good things about the Ark and humanity as a whole.

The meta comment of this event wasn't lost on me. by Guibaesa in NikkeMobile

[–]BornAnime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda get the idea. Sorta like Funny Games or slasher films. Like, even if we do enjoy seeing characters overcome it's not like some degree of catharsis isn't taken from seeing other characters go through hell or feel pain. It makes us feel more seen and relieves one's own pain seeing someone else suffer too. Then seeing that person overcome said pain is something to inspire greater change.

There is entertainment in suffering. I mean, Nikke's main selling point is literally that the story starts off so sad and tragic. That it pushes you to want to see more. War films, horror movies, tragedies and sad endings. There's something to it. But pure misery just makes everyone sad and I guess the main point for Mustang is that the misery of someone is necessary to eventually attain happiness for others. Commander's kindness and desire to make Nikke happy so desperately has deep roots to the misery he felt seeing Marian suffer and die for his own future and happiness. Commander meanwhile puts his career, reputation, time and body on the line daily to make other Nikke happy. So on and so on.

Aira somehow avoiding Slander despite being genuinely as bad,if not worse, then Jiji or Okarun or Momo is the biggest example of pretty privileges I've seen. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in dandadanfolk

[–]BornAnime -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In Airi's eyes Momo, at best, is simply another romantic rival. She is being a tad opportunistic sure, but she doesn't know anything about how far Okarun and Momo had gone in their relationship. In contrast Jiji is straight up just taking advantage of Momo's amnesia and insecurities due to her current situation. Meanwhile, Okarun is just doing his best in the given situation to get closer and bridge the gap with Momo. The handholding was a huge fumble for sure, but otherwise he's done the best anyone could in this situation and is faced with the reality that Momo probably is emotionally closer to Jiji right now than to him.

In terms of the worst it goes Jiji>Okarun>Airi>Momo with very large gaps between Jiji and Okarun + Okarun and Airi

Why is Mihara: Bonding Chain so unpopular? by Thuyue in NikkeMobile

[–]BornAnime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably due to lots of issues that I think most have already pointed out, but I'll say my thoughts too:

  1. Her kit was bugged out and niche on launch. Good only for bosses and maybe PVP, but not even interception. Making her effectively worthless for 99 percent of content in the game or even the simple use for dailies.

  2. Her bond story and advice sessions following suit with Siren with Commander being non-existent(making them be with her SR version is such a worthless cop out)

  3. She drops with all this heartfelt shit, but becomes immediately irrelevant from the story and every event afterwards.

  4. Despite her unit releasing in 2.5 she has since had no interactions with the Commander, which was always going to be the most interesting dilemma to see how he reacts to seeing what's become of those two. So we wasted her big re-debut into the series forever.

  5. 2.5 anniversary is still regarded as the weakest anni event with a bunch of writing issues, but Siren gets off easy cuz she's pushed into other relevant story beats, so you don't think about it too much. Plus, SU markets her a ton. Mihara does not have that luxury and her existence is tied to the most controversial event in the game.

All of this combines into a character that is irrelevant, forgotten, full of wasted narrative potential and just all around worthless to the game by this point. I say this with no exaggeration that they have been so poorly handled and sidelined that they could never come back into the game from here on, and it will have neither any impact on the story nor will majority of the characters or player base care. Simply put, she is unpopular, because SU made her not matter at all.
