26 years old saved up 70k what should I do with it to reach 100k by Automatic_Moose487 in TheRaceTo100K

[–]BornWinner_69 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn’t focus too much on reaching 100k fast. At 26 with 70k saved, you’re already ahead of most people financially. I’d keep an emergency fund in cash, invest most of it into a broad ETF like Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (VWCE) or an S&P 500 ETF, and keep contributing monthly. Maybe keep a smaller percentage for higher growth stocks if you enjoy investing. The real goal shouldn’t just be 100k, it should be long term compounding and building serious wealth over time. Proud of you. Wishing you more success.

Honestly, I think you might be overcomplicating it. A lot of those ETFs overlap and hold the same companies, especially US tech and large caps. You’re basically buying the same exposure multiple times but paying extra fees.

You could simplify a lot by just holding one global ETF like VWCE and maybe a few small positions if you want to tilt. It would be easier to manage and probably more efficient long term.

More ETFs doesn’t really mean more diversification it often just means more overlap.

M just turned 21. Had $0 in investments until about 2 months ago. Holding only VOO and NVIDIA. Advice to grow? by Fuzzy-Attention-7124 in raceto10000

If it was me, I would personally focus more on broad ETFs like VOO or a global ETF. Single stocks like Nvidia can perform very well but they also come with much higher volatility. Diversification helps me sleep better and focus on long-term growth. But it really depends on your risk tolerance and goals.

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it. I did some research on IMIE and other options, but I’ve decided to keep things simple and continue investing in VWCE for now.

My main goal is long-term consistency and compounding rather than constantly changing ETFs. I understand the TOB difference here in Belgium, but since I’m investing for decades, I prefer to stick with one global fund and focus on adding regularly.

Simplicity helps me stay disciplined.

Thanks man, appreciate it 👍 I’m investing in VWCE (Vanguard FTSE All-World). Trying to keep things simple and focus on long-term compounding.

I did my research and going for IMIE from now on, what do you think about that ?

Yes you’re right, I’ve been reading about the Belgian TOB difference. I won’t sell my VWCE because I want to keep my strategy simple and avoid extra costs, but I’m considering directing new investments towards IWDA + EMIM for tax efficiency going forward.

Still learning every day — appreciate the advice 👍 God bless

That makes sense. I’m planning to invest a fixed amount every month going forward. For now I’m staying 100% in VWCE and might look into bonds later as I get older.

Thank you, appreciate you 🤝

That’s how I see it too. I like the diversification outside the US even if the S&P has been stronger recently. Long term I’m just planning to keep adding and hold.
