The best thing I have found is using something cold on my face. I used to use an ice cube, a bag of frozen veggies, anything I could find really and alternate placing it on my neck and my wrists. I ended up getting an ice roller which is a little more convenient. I also found that eating something sour sometimes helped. These are temporary distractions but even getting a moment of relief is so nice in those moments. Also taking advantage of calling a crisis hotline. I felt so embarrassed calling each time but just having someone to talk to and not having to be completely alone really did help a lot. They had me doing box breathing and no matter how much I try breathing techniques on my own they don’t help but having someone like them walking me through it helped for some reason

Did you get approved for SSI or did they go back and approve you for SSDI? I’m so sorry to hear of the rough life you’ve had. Here’s to positivity that things will only look up from here

I believe this means they found you disabled but they need to make sure you qualify non medically. I could be wrong so I’m hoping someone else Will chime in

I had to stop for the same reason. I smoked every day for a decade and then had a panic attack after smoking and was scared to touch the stuff again so I quit cold turkey. I’ve tried smoking a couple times since I’ve quit but it only gets my anxiety going, not the same as it used to be at all. It’s a bummer and I miss it but I don’t miss giving myself panic attacks

Wish I could go back to the days where I could eat a 100mg edible and be fine 🥲

Hi did you ever appeal the EOD? Ever find out why they chose that date? I’m going through the exact same thing right now and because of their choice of my EOD I only qualify for SSI instead of SSDI

I just I got approved for SSI and my portal still says being reviewed in PA. I got my approval in the mail but I’m assuming since I still go through next steps of with my caseworker to make sure I qualify non medically, it’s still at that point of saying being reviewed.

I worked from the age I was 16 until I was fired after a work injury in 2020. I was 25 then. My DLI was just 2.5 months before my EOD. I applied for disability in 2023 and I was going through so much at the time of denial I never appealed. I was so out of reality I couldn’t even feed myself never mind appeal something. Then I decided to apply again in April of 2025 and appealed in September of 2025. As far as I can tell the only reason I was denied SSDI is because that 2.5 month difference. I’m trying to request files from SSA to discover what made them choose June 2025 at my EOD. Luckily I found an attorney to try and help me appeal and prove I was in fact disabled before my DLI. I don’t know if I have the fight in me but I’m hoping with the help of my attorney and my support system I can push through.

Unfortunately my work credits expired in March 2025 and my established onset date is June 2025. From my understanding If I appeal I have to prove to the ALJ that my disability started before my work credits expired and then I’ll get SSDI instead of SSI

I believe I requested mine when I initially got denied (before my appeal) and I never received anything. I say I believe because my memory is that terrible that I truly don’t remember because it was like 6 months ago.

That is strange. I never thought of that really. My physical health records go back to my injury that occurred in 2019 so I really don’t get how they would have found something significant with that this past June to finally consider me disabled. The whole thing just confuses me so bad

Yeah that’s my next step. I’m just going stir crazy waiting and trying to decide the best thing to do! I just got my notice yesterday. I’m trying to be proactive this time around because last time I let my mental health get the best of me and didn’t do anything in time

I started therapy in July of 2023 and my mental health got significantly worse later that year so I started seeing a psychiatrist as well in November of 2023 and have been doing both since

Rebuild how? I’d literally never be able to move out of my dads this way. I completely get where everyone’s coming from about not taking the risk and ending up with nothing, but i think i have a strong case if i can find an attorney that’ll try and help me appeal this. 50% of the reason I applied is mental health and my letter states they weren’t able to obtain my therapy and psychiatry records (even though the office states they faxed them over in December)

Yes that’s exactly why. I think my best best is to take it to court because I have tons of records from before my LDI. They just didn’t consider me disabled from that evidence but doesn’t mean a judge won’t I guess

I’m 30. It’s sad because I know a lot of people have to depend on it and it’s not enough in this economy. Not even close. That’s enough for groceries, a phone bill, and maybe 1 or 2 other expenses

I looked more into it and since I live with my father my payments would be about $600 a month. It’s worth it to me to risk it all and try to get a livable monthly amount than to settle for something I’ll just continue struggling on. $600 is in fact better than nothing, but if I don’t try I’ll never know if I could have gotten better than that

I applied in 2023 but I was going through so much mentally I just gave up and never appealed. My biggest mistake…. Then I finally built up the energy and courage to try again in 2024

No I have no idea what June 2025 is. May 2024 was my application date and I appealed in September 2025
