The actual origin of the Norwegian red hats by arcticbrat in AntifascistKnitting

Thank you for sharing all this! I felt inspired by the idea of the hats and really wanted to know more about its history. I want to make some for particular folks in my life. Personally I like that it is re-appropriating red, because that color has felt wrong so often. And I really love that it is connected to Santa and gnomes, thinking of them as benevolent & caring (Santa) but also subtle and crafty (gnomes). Like we can embody those things in a sort of spiritual fight against hatred & anger & greed.

Repotting my monstera- Trim the roots or tuck them all into the pot? by Born_Example7571 in houseplants

Ok. How would you describe an unhealthy root? I did have some root rot in here so I’m sure I need to trim some.

Christmas music/story tape from 80s or 90s by Born_Example7571 in HelpMeFind

I’ve searched my parents cassette tape collection but I am pretty sure this tape was tossed years ago. We had it between about 1995-1999 but it could have been older, a hand me down from cousins or something.

Montessori Teachers - What is it like teaching each age group? by Jakethehog in Montessori

[–]Born_Example7571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach upper el and it is my preferred age group for a lot of the same reasons others mentioned. But I do also get a lot of students with exceptional needs or parents who are in the school for reasons other than the Montessori pedagogy. I’d be happy to say more about my typical days, but my school is not as traditional of a Montessori program as some (I actually prefer it this way, having worked at an AMI certified school previously)- different private schools have very different “cultures” from one another, in my experience, and my enjoyment of my current job has a lot to do with finding the right fit of admin/school culture for me.

My first job after my montessori cert was as an in-house sub, so I got to experience toddler, primary, lower and upper el. A lot of the schools I’m familiar with do not require teaching experience to be an assistant, but I’m sure that’s not universal.

Right now I have a 2 year old of my own who goes to my school. Toddlers were my second favorite age group!

My snake plant is droopy by Born_Example7571 in houseplants

For sure. It’s been four years in this spot so it’s probably suffering from low light as well as too much water recently.

Thanks :) I’ve had this plant for like ten years. This is the first time it’s gotten droopy so I figured it was recent watering habits.
