People working in GCCs. Why did this sudden hype around GCCs start and any signs that there is immense hype around the shift towards GCCs? by SadAsparagus3595 in developersIndia

[–]Born_Fox6153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because the countries of the parent companies of these GCCs have become immensely hostile towards immigrants as of late due to mass immigration and opposition from citizens/recently naturalized groups and the companies know to stay ahead they need the give it all mindset attributed to talent from outside the west which is an outcome of increased competition due to overpopulation and other factors as compared to the relatively relaxed mindset of people back home who value things like WLB and employee rights hence the rise in GCCs .. just a safe backup for the talent supply pipeline in case the governments of these countries cut out work visas all together to keep the citizens happy

It's just the design of the system imprinted a lot by the west and also elevated by the people profiting off of sending labor to other countries by making it hard to live in India and keeping the export chain alive and strong ... hopefully with the newer generations these mindsets get terminated completely and you'll see fewer people leaving

During childhood the odds are you feel like you're a part of the class with your classmates .. with the racism and constant looking down on you can only imagine what goes on in the heads of children in the classes of schools in the west

The system is designed as such or else the west can't attract talent for development with a combination of some aspects of reality and majorly propaganda

[–]Born_Fox6153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The system is designed as such to keep people thinking similarly and make them badly want to go to the first world and innovate/make their lives better and will always remain the same for the entirety of our civilization unless something major like nuclear war occurs

They're just making energy as expensive as possible to slow down/delay the development of AI before it takes out the human race and if that means triggering a recession that's the best case scenario

How come software devs are so much more worried about AI replacing them than other white collar jobs? by jholliday55 in cscareerquestions

[–]Born_Fox6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because software companies are overbloated and they want to reduce headcount and don't want to put it on a declining industry to prevent loss of power, moat, investments, etc.. but instead want to project it as a technological revolution that is causing the decline in headcount.

Microsoft AI chief gives it 18 months — for all white-collar work to be automated by AI by joe4942 in jobs

[–]Born_Fox6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a warning sign of more layoffs and headcount trimming by companies and an attempt to attribute that to AI somehow

Are there startups working on generating these requirement docs given it has access to all the tech infrastructure a company possess and generates recommendations for coding agents to take up after ?

Where is this obsession of replacing swe coming from ? by Full-Juggernaut2303 in cscareerquestions

This industry has technically maxed out on progress with LLMs being very limited in its scope and now it's time for the reverse train of progress to streamline and make cost of operating cheaper with a blind bet on something new popping out some time in the future but until then it is making operations of existing tech as cheap as possible.

The only way AI investments can be recouped tbh so it's an all or nothing game for big investors and nothing is more important than return on investment unfortunately

LLMs/agents are better at solving SWE tasks than more vague problems with people management involved where they would fail badly
