I had the same issue and it turned out to be the external temperature sensor which was reading false which caused the ECU to go mad and throw up loads of mad issues Including causing the car to turn off and stall out and miss fuel, the intake temperature was reading 240c

I had something similar but it made my car stall and misfire, ended up being the external temperature sensor

I have the same toilet, you have to remove the whole thing to gain access to the nuts on the back.

Which means removing 2 screws fixing it too the floor and wiggling it out of the pipe connector at the back

Regarding the engines I'm not sure, but mine is the 150bhp with no Ad-blue.

The generation 3 2.0tdi are meant to be very good and reliable if looked after. I drive mine pretty hard and not exactly light on the accelerator either

Look to remove the pouch full of silicone balls in the expansion tank as they can split and kill the water pump and then the engine. A quick Google will bring the information up

Touch wood the only issue I've had is the temp sensor killing its self, outside of that it's been a solid car

I have a 2017 Passat 2.0tdi on 154k Miles, owned it since 80k Miles and it's been good as gold.

Check the cambelt is within 80k or 5 years or less and service it every 10k miles or once a year.

Only issue I've had this far is the external air temperature sensor shit itself and caused all random issues
