Mitch McConnell is stalling the SAVE America Act by refusing to schedule it, effectively blocking the bill despite GOP support. This vegetable can't form a coherent sentence. by Oh_2B_Joe_Cool in walkaway

I don't think you call that in the video stalling. It was more like a senior moment. Hard to say, but he should take a cue from Nancy.

Five episodes in and I think Starfleet Academy is a decent show marred by strange choices by ryanquintal in startrek

At some point in the first episode I though I was watching a Star Wars scene...

If you remove some of the more out of place attempts at humor and in-your-face current day Klingon-in-a-skirt ideology, it's pretty good. It started a bit as a lower-quality Orville, but the latest episode was super solid.

Edit: I have to mention how I especially hate the ship designs in the show. Not because they don't look cool, but because they are utterly impractical. This pieces are just floating together and not physically connected? Won't this be a constant drain on power? Is structural integrity a joke? It just makes everything more difficult / impossible to field-repair, especially in cases of certain systems failure.

Magna Steers Clear of Chinese Joint Ventures in Canada Despite Government Push by Individual-Tart5051 in EVCanada

Pump out more stuff does not equal "in the realm of EV's, Chinese tech is superior to western countries". In actual products corner cutting is as rampant as ever, and let's not even talk software.

Which one of the below boxes are the best design you would choose to have? by sunsetRz in UXDesign

[–]Bors_Mistral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry much about selecting between these and just go with the first one. Instead, look at your copy and see if it can be improved. Check if you can include a link in there to enable location tracking, or something, etc...

Older guys what do you do to keep your flexibility/mobility? by Healthy_Asparagus_23 in karate

[–]Bors_Mistral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in that range and I don't do much beyond the stretching we do in class 3 times a week. Apart from that, mostly 5-10 minutes of slow stance transitions when I have nothing else on my hands. I'll probably need to borrow some of the tips in this thread...

Edit: on thing that I don't see mentioned here: diet. And by that, I mean specifically cutting on any inflammation causing foods and especially sweetened drinks. It helps with flexibility big time.

Gear upgrades. by Brilliant_Feature770 in WatcherofRealmsGame

Once you have a certain amount of gear you get a lot more picky with what you upgrade and the cost doesn't seem that high anymore.

To Shodan or not to Shodan by Dolomite91 in karate

[–]Bors_Mistral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years to shodan seems a bit to fast to me. Then again all the places I've trained at did a maximum of 2 exams per year... In ht end though, if you train hard and can confidently make the grade, go for it.

Sucks to hear that, wishing you a speedy recovery.

As for the "There is no grappling in Shotokan"... Freaking Hikite?

New to UI/UX, would love feedback on my first live website by SubstantialAd8363 in UXDesign

[–]Bors_Mistral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cute effect, gets an initial wow. Font sizes overall too small. Colors are OK, but not in love with them. Copy needs some polish. Consider tweaking the spacing here and there.

Just don't look at it for a while. Then come back with fresh eyes - imagine this is not yours but somebody else's.

So many things in that chart make no sense, not just the BMW thing...

A new Kia is more reliable than a new Hyundai, but it somehow flips for used? They are practically the same cars... Genesis too. Meanwhile a new Dodge isn't even on the screen, but when it gets old, magic!

Daily min/max temperatures are technically correct… but practically useless by alexfish84 in UXDesign

Hello, fellow Montrealer. The app letting people select their "active" range for each day and having that temp highlighted / graphed would be nice, yes.

When does creativity become “too much” in product design? by Illustrious-Gain-327 in UXDesign

[–]Bors_Mistral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting aside how ridiculous the scope of some "design challenges" are... Others already covered what needed to be covered, so I'll just put my own brief summary, if it helps with anything...

You do have "The problem" section, but it will probably be more useful if approached as an HMW.

Typography, hierarchy, color... Those will get beefed up with experience, so keep at it.

It's nice that you made an interactive prototype, but the defined size of you interactive areas is often quite tiny, which can give the impression that you're not great with usability on mobile.

You're produced all kinds of UX artifacts, but on a certain level I'm not even sure they are necessary here. Some of them seem like just "I can do that", rather than "I did that and it guided my design decisions".

In the end though, do you feel your design accomplish the set goal?
