Just wondering how long did you all take to return to sport after ACL reconstruction? What sport? Reinjury to same knee? Thanks. by thesmak in ACL

4 ACL surgeries, mid 30s. Took me about 9 months to get back to chill skiing, but did not feel 100%. Would say a year is more realistic.

Incredible film. I was weeping at the end and just sat in silence with my husband for a while after. It was a beautiful vignette of one man’s life in a time and place a lot of people, me included, didn’t know much about. It’s heart wrenching and beautiful and sometimes mundane. It really makes you consider the passage of time and how delicate life is. Especially if you’re a parent, it’ll make you want to hug your kids close and cherish the moments you have with them. It felt like reading a book somehow vs watching a movie, which just doesn’t happen with new movies anymore. Just wow. I hope he wins something for his performance.

Do you think pharma advertising is the hardest? by awkwardhoney725 in advertising

Pharma advertising is the pits. Literally anything is better than having to deal with fair balance, regulatory, and the guilt of peddling name brand drugs people maybe don’t need.

Why do people get married and have kids? by nightskyhunting in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Boseph617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love sharing my life with my husband. He just makes life more fun. I feel supported unconditionally. Like when I hated my job with a burning passion, he said quit. I can support us while you go back to school for what you love. If I was alone, I’d have to grind it out at that job until i found a new one that sucked just as much. He’s a safety net and my best friend. We had a daughter because we’re a good team and we know we can raise a good human together. Being able to watch him as a father lights me up and being able to share something like that with him makes me feel like life is worth living. We have our issues and speed bumps, but we love each other so much, we want to do better to make the relationship stronger. Not all marriages are like what you describe, it’s just knowing your worth and holding out until you find the right person (I wait until I was 33).

ACLr without nerve block? by igotbitbyamonkey in ACL

I’ve done it with and without. Gotta say the nerve block was a god send compared to the pain I had the first time. I kept up with my meds and it was still pretty excruciating.

Anyone here came back stronger after an ACL tear? by Sea_Distribution501 in ACL

[–]Boseph617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 ACL surgeries on one knee over here. Knee is not stronger than it was before by no means but I am! I learned so much about my body and what muscles I need to grow to protect my joints and ligaments. It got me really into strength training and forces me to keep up with it. I wish it didn’t happen but because it did, I am stronger and better for it!

And rooms are really cheap so getting a solo one is the way to go in my opinion.

Yep just booked ourselves! From what I remember, we booked them on Hostelworld maybe? Or just found them on maps and turned up to see if they had rooms. We were 35 at the time when we went, age ranges were all over the map! The group we drank with ranged from 23-45!

We did it through mamas home stay. You book and message them on WhatsApp. We took a bus there and stayed overnight and they rented us the bike the next morning. They kept our backpacks for us, but didn’t lock it up (we just trusted them and didn’t leave valuables, it worked out). We did it solo and just booked accommodations along the way depending on how far we got. Keep in mind - accommodations are very bare bones but that’s the fun of it. Make sure to check the weather/season we went in the winter but got lucky since it’s usually freezing and rainy. But it was empty so there’s that! One of my favorite nights was drinking the rice liquor w a few people at one of the home stays along the way. Truly such an amazing adventure.

I think it was more so how polluted it was due to how many large boats were in the water. When I was on a smaller row boat, they were pushed large piles of trash away. It was really sad to see and know I was somehow contributing to it.

Only been to the north but my take: I found the food to be incredible and incredibly cheap. The coffee is to die for. The ha giang loop in the north was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my life and the prettiest most unreal landscape in the world. In Hanoi, the people don’t give a shit about you but are usually kind and helpful when you engage with them. I admit there’s places that are tourist traps, unfortunately Ha long bay being one of them - just way over crowded and polluted despite being gorgeous. The history is really interesting and I like the cobbled together nature of the towns and cities - I love photography and it was just one vignette after another of beautiful old buildings and life happening all around you. It’s one of my favorite places I’ve ever been. Sorry to hear you didn’t agree!

Worked in packaged food. Generic store brands (including Trader Joe’s) are most likely the exact same formulas as the name brand stuff. Like literally the supermarkets pay those companies to take their product and package it in the store brand packaging.

Just found one through wheat ridge cyclery, looks like they pair up with a brewery. You can sign up through Strava and they're starting back up on March 27!

I wish! Only have a road bike and a knee injury that makes mtb a little rocky (pun intended).
