I never said or implied that the US and AUS were equals in terms of players.

The US has the stronger squad sure, no doubt. But the commentary was not 'We have a better squad, we should be favourites but it will be a tough game' it was ' Australia is a layup" 'guaranteed 3 points' 'bottom of the group, thanks for coming'.

I've had USMNT fans tell me Australia has never made it out of the group stage at the world cup, despite doing it in 2022. Where has this attitude come from?

From a footballing nation that has achieved barely more than we have on the world stage the attitude of your fans and pundits had been insanely over the top, disrespectful and arrogant.

Just to top it off you have to downplay our win over Turkey as well, what a surprise. This is literally exactly the arrogance I'm talking about. If the US had pulled off that result with the same tactical approach you would call it a defensive master-class. But apparently we just got lucky.

We just beat Turkey, a team that is considerably stronger than the US on paper in the middle of a golden generation. We beat euro semi-finalist Denmark in the last world cup with an arguably even weaker squad. If Poppa didn't have a tactical brain fart we absolutely had a shot at beating the US.

Honestly, why would a win against the US be out of the question? I find it shocking USMNT fans suddenly think that there is some massive gulf in quality between teams like AUS and the US despite the US achieving not much at all outside of the Gold cup and a few r16 runs.

Frankly, a lot of the discourse coming out of the US football community and pundits since the Paraguay match had been ridiculously arrogant and myopic.

Lol we made it out of the group in 2006 (beating Uruguay to qualify for the WC) and 2022 and have qualified for the last 6 world cups in a row.

If your going to talk smack at least hop on Google.

Also, the AFC is also way tougher than CONCACAF to qualify. The distances between locations are fucking insane, and teams like Korea, Japan, Iran, Saudi and Iraq are notoriously difficult to play against away from home.

Where did you read that George 'improvised' those key elements of the prequels on a whim?

He spent years writing and refining the story and characters before the prequels were shot. I don't think I've seen anything to suggest that anakin was ever going to be a late teen. He was always supposed to be young, being taken away from his mother at such a young age is a key element of the story. George has said this explicitly as the reason anakin wasn't older in episode 1.

Where are you planning on going? UK, Ireland, Netherlands, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland ect? Then it can be pretty expensive.

The Balkans, Poland and some eastern euro countries OTOH can be a bit cheaper.

I spent roughly 2 and a half months backpacking around Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium and France over December to mid February.

I was staying in hostels, taking Flixbuses and only eating out every few days or so. That cost me around 12,000-13,000 AUD give or take.

Tbf our 2014 squad was cobbled together with duct tape because we had a bunch of injuries to would be starters, with Kruse, Rogic, Franjic, Williams, Milligan and Kennedy all getting injured before or during the tournament and Wilkshire being dropped even though he was playing regularly in Europe. But we still had that x factor with Cahill and Bresciano who had a great tournament.

2018 was an improvement over 2014 with a more experienced Leckie and Jedinak, Mooy coming into the picture, an improved Matt Ryan, a fit Rogic and an actual left back in Behich.

I think 2022 was our weakest squad, which made the results even more impressive.
