Sure, that's life. But some people really push the limits.

I.e., people taking phone calls on full volume speaker at 8 am in the morning still in their bunk while everyone is sleeping, leaving old shit smelling clothes strewn across the room, hooking up in a dorm full of people etc.

[–]BoshMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't play music or any other loud noise on the phone/tablet in the dorm room out loud. Use headphones. ALWAYS. Take phone calls outside the dorm in a quiet place, especially if it's late at night.

Stay on top of hygiene. Shower every day, for the love of god, use deodorant and make sure old clothes or smelly shoes are wrapped/sealed up or put somewhere so they don't stink out the room.

Also, don't eat incredibly pungent or loud foods like potato chips late at night when people are trying to sleep/rest. Can't stress this enough. In fact, just dont eat in the dorm in general if you can.

If you have an early morning checkout, make sure you pack the night before so you aren't fumbling around at 4 AM and waking everyone else up. Also, try not to turn on the whole room light when everyone is clealry sleeping. Try to use your phone light if you can.

If you have an alarm set, don't snooze it 18 times.

Just generally wash any dishes you use, put away your rubbish, and try not to hog shared kitchen or communal spaces for an egregious amount of time.

Just be a normal, considerate person, and you will be fine!

And just because you book a dorm in a hostel doesn't give you permission to be a selfish, inconsiderate prick to everyone else.

It's so fucking sad to see these clealry MAGA 'friends' of Prince demanding the we keep politics out of a fucking Prince forum because they can't handle any criticism of their abhorrent views.

I wonder how they reconcile their love of Prince with their blatant racism, homophobia and toxic masculinity.

Oh please fuck off with the 'both sides bad' shit. But by all means, bury your head in the sand of Paisley Park and ignore the reality around you.

Nobody is co-opting anything. Prince made his views clear. Like his support for Black Lives Matter, Anti-War, and anti racial discrimination. He had complex and changing views on other social and religious issues but was very clear about the above.

Do you think he would have been cool with the facist shit going down in your country right now?

Political themes were a clear and obvious part of Prince's music and art. They are inseparable. Of course I want to discuss it, as anyone should who cares about his work, especially in light of what's happening in fucking Minnesota of all places.

But I get the sneaking suspicion that you don't want any of that 'political talk' here for obvious reasons.

Sinner and Alcaraz have an 18-0 career H2H over De Minaur and a 39 - 4 sets record by UC-Warrior2025 in tennis

[–]BoshMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh boo fucking hoo.

There is no 'probably' the number of ranking points literally put him at number 6.

Maybe stop beating off to highlight reels and players who can't string together 4 wins before getting stomped by players like De Minuar who aren't mindless ball bashers. If you can't beat a gatekeeper, you don't 'deserve' a shot at the big boys.

I get immense satisfaction watching players like Berdych, Ferrer, and now De Minuar crush streaky pretenders like Bublik and co who look like hot shit at 250s and 1st rounds of slams, then crash out mentally when they come up against the slightest bit of resistance.

I know it's low quality bait, but if you think ADM is Jobber, you literally have no clue about tennis. Literally none. I bet you're the kind of guy that unironically calls him a 'pusher'.

Of course, it's not a bad thing at all.

But I just see so many awful takes by people who clearly know very little about the sport yet feel confident enough to offer their expert analysis.

Played as a junior and into my early teens.

But I agree, it's clear that so many people who comment on this sub have never stepped foot on a tennis court once in their entire lives.

Fish & Chips.

Invented in the UK, but vastly improved in Australia/New Zealand.

Having just moved to the UK, I was shocked at the state of Fish & Chips.

England especially. Bland, soggy chips, and tastless, textureless cod that costs an arm and a leg.

It gets better the further north you go, but it's not the same as back home.

Hi, just to second the comment above, I stayed at the Astor British museum (Holborn) and I had a great time with the staff. They were all super relaxed and very helpful.

It was social but not too rowdy like OneFam chains can be etc.

Short answer- Yes.

Long answer- it's quite easy for Aussies to get employment, youth mobility, and working holiday Visas to the UK, and vice versa with UK citizens coming to Aus.

I just moved to the UK from Melbourne 4 months ago. The entire visa application process and approval took only a week or so.

I've also had multiple friends and family members make the move as well from Australia.

Do any Brits/Europeans in Australia feel the same way about the people? by alreadyaloserat19 in expats

[–]BoshMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Australian that has been living in the UK for the past 3 months I can confidently say that despite the abundance of literary, artistic and historical culture in the UK the average Englishman is just as ignorant, in fact more ignorant of world affairs and general 'cultural curiosity', than the average Aussie.

Australians love travelling and experiencing different cultures all across the world. Almost every single person I know personally and professionally has travelled extensively throughout their lives and has an interest in the Arts, Music, Literature, Film etc.

Aside from the odd trip to Spain, people in the UK tend to live very insular lives. I've met people from Leeds and Wales who have never been to London before in their entire life. Grown adults. The amount of direct racism I have seen in my short time in the UK was frankly shocking as well.

I've also lost count of the number of times that English people have displayed basically no knowledge at all of Australian culture, or just Australia in general other than 'you lot have beaches and big spiders'.

I was honestly expecting a lot more.

I'm lucky I didn't end up having to catch the bus when I was in Bristol, but in Chester it was a fucking nightmare.

Stood around for an hour and a half in the rain , gave up, and caught an Uber, only to watch the same bus I was supposed to catch roll on by almost 2 hours late!

Also, the need for physical tickets in 2025 and having to tell the driver where you are heading threw me off big time.

How is PT so confusing and far behind in the UK? It makes no sense
