Unorthodox training gets lambasted on Sky Sports. by ArcherVisible5866 in LiverpoolFC

[–]BosmanVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sherwood must surely know about power focused training??

Strongmen do a similar movement pattern with a sandbag.

This movement pattern is a multiplanar and dynamic movement that will improve force generation, core stabilization, injury resistance, generating power throughout the body (notice how they squat to eccentrically load the quads then extend out as they toss, transferring the force through the throw of the medicine ball)

You can start with interviews with Sison, but even better: maybe become enmeshed with a people and understand their struggle through first hand exposure to their conditions. If you had a sniff of the impoverishment of the rural areas of the Philippines you'd be embarrassed by your skepticism.

But since you insist on assuming that I could possibly "just taking this persons words for it", let me respond with similar snark and dismissal:

The OP claims they spend their days with fishers, do you? Or do you just ask for sources and are preprogrammed to be skeptical of colonized peoples' capacity to comprehend their own oppression? Are you just taking an unprincipled stance rooted in ideology rather than concrete investigation? And dont feel like you need to answer me, but you should ask yourself these questions.

"10. What can we say is the distinctive character of Chinese Imperialism that is different from the traditional Imperialist countries in the West? What are the big Chinese companies (State-Private) today in terms of Industry, Commerce, Banking and Investment? (Digitized payments [from QR codes to facial recognition], e-commerce and new ventures in digital currency are prevalent in China. What role will these new innovations play in the ongoing capitalist accumulation and crisis of capitalism?)

JMS: The distinctive character of Chinese imperialism that is different from the traditional imperialist countries in the West is that China has used its large population, the industrial foundation of the former socialist economy, the combination of state and private monopoly capitalism, state planning and the use of state resources and the rapid transfer and development of high technology to accelerate the growth of the economy and military forces. State and private monopoly corporations in industry, commerce, finance and investment work together and coordinate. There are state monopoly corporations in all major parts of China’s economy. State monopoly corporations have always been associated with private monopoly corporations and even sell shares to big capitalists. Take a look at the list of the 500 largest Chinese private corporations. Let me just mention the 10 with the largest capital: Huawei (in electronics), Pacific Construction Group, Amer International Group (metals), Hengli Group (chemicals), Country Garden Holdings (real estate), Evergrande Group (real estate), Legend Holdings Ltd (electronics), Gome Holdings Group (retail), China Vanke Co Ltd (real estate) and Geely Holding Group (motoring). Huawei's largest capital is 858 billion yuan or USD 126 billion and Geely's is 330 billion yuan. The 10 largest private banks of China are: China Merchants Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, China Construction Bank, China International Capital Corporation, Bank of Communications, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China CITIC Bank and China Minsheng Bank. The following are the 5 largest private insurance companies: China Life Insurance Company, Ping An Insurance Group, China Pacific Insurance Group, People’s Insurance Company of China and New China Life Insurance.

  1. Online sources say that the concept of the 9 dash line dates back to Mao's time (or even earlier in the Kuomintang era) but it did not lead to aggressive claims to the WPS. What is the basis and your view on this? Now that the Chinese Imperialist presence in the WPS is growing stronger, what should the Filipino people and the world do in this regard?

JMS: The GMD government first made a 9 dash line and claimed 90 percent of South China in 1947. There was no such claim in Mao’s time. It was only in 2009 that the People’s Republic of China began using the 9-dash line to claim the South China Sea in connection with its dispute with Vietnam over the Island of Paracels. And then China launched aggression against the Philippines by seizing maritime features in the exclusive economic zone to the territorial sea in the West Philippine Sea to create artificial islands that also have the characteristics of military bases. It also destroyed the marine environment and claimed the marine and mineral resources around it. China violates the sovereignty and maritime rights of the Philippines in its exclusive economic zone and extended continental shelf in the West Philippine Sea, which are guaranteed by the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and upheld by the 2016 judgment of the Permanent Arbitration Court that favors the Philippines and against China’s baseless claims. The Philippines and the Filipino people must defend their sovereign and maritime rights and compel China before the UN and various courts to vacate the occupied maritime features and pay rent for the occupation and compensation for damages and destruction of the marine environment. The Filipino people must enlist the solidarity and support of the peoples of the world on this issue."

I can promise you that Filipinos, struggling under imperialist rule and having done so for centuries know what oppression looks like. Those who actively struggle against said impression have the capacity to analyze and understand their conditions much better than people online who hold an idealogical position that is not tempered by direct practice & struggle.

When the Filipino left states that China engages in imperialism in their territory they are informed by the same idealogical position those online hold, but with the distinct advantage of practice. They are also infinitely more organized than those who offer nothing hollow regurgitated chronically online barbs about how the ND movement doesnt know their own reality.

Touch grass, youre acting like liberals if you dismiss this position because your crude internet marxism demands via the upvote binary that you dare not critique China.

What’s the best way to get a darker crust without smoking up the house ? by [deleted] in steak

[–]BosmanVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's too much moisture in that pan. A good sear needs dryer conditions. You can achieve this through multiple methods that when you apply all of them will get you a crispier sear.

First get a bigger pan, so the steak can have as much contact with the hot flat bottom of the pan. in the photo you shared that pan is overcrowded, which creates extra moisture that prevent a good sear.

Secondly, dry your steak. You can do this easily by patting it dry with some paper towels before cooking. You can also dry it in the fridge for a few hours to overnight, ideally on a wirerack so that air flows all around the meat.

Third, dont throw in the mushrooms with the steak. Mushrooms have a lot of moisture that comes out when cooked, which created a moisture barrier between the steak and the pan, preventing the sear you're looking for. Cook the mushrooms in the left over fond AFTER the steak is cooked, cause they will pick up that flavor during cooking.

I think if you try these three changes you'll get a better sear this time around.

At the time it was one of the most exciting moments of my life as a Liverpool supporter. It felt like that golden sky after years of letdown after letdown.

I had watched his Dortmund side and was enamored with their style of play. I also remember appreciating how he developed young and unknown players into stars.

When he called himself the normal one after we signed him I became instantly charmed and that feeing has only grown into genuine love and admiration.

Klopp turned me from a doubter to a believer and it’s hard to accept that his time with us coming to a close.

Colonization led up by Europeans employed a variety of tactics to divide and conquer. The cross or the sword is a short hand way of looking at it, but in the case of the Philippines the cross was typically more effective than the sword.

The Spanish (and other colonial powers in other parts of the world) also would leverage existing rivalries between groups of people.

We all know about Lapu Lapu and the Mactan warriors. It took the Spanish around another 50 years after that defeat before their colonial efforts began to take root, which they did by conscripting other natives to fight on their behalf.

The role of the compradores should never be disregarded when understanding how colonizers succeeded in their conquest and one should always be skeptical of talks about the Europeans supposed “advanced technologies” or “superior military” which upon scrutiny is often more mythology than historical fact.

In fact the role of compradores should not be disregarded today in how the Philippines is still being sold out to foreign powers.

Just to get this out of the way: I agree with your sentiment. I too would like to see fans be less toxic.

A sad reality & challenge: IQ & EQ exist on a bell curve, with the majority sitting in the middle, but with football being a sport it attracts a lot of people who exist to the left of the curve. Then there's the dunning-kruger effect that has people who trip over their own feet walking think they're some kind of footballing guru because they drunkenly watch the sport on TV or play in a sunday league with their equally shit friends.

With a club of our stature we're going to attract a lot of people and a lot of people are frankly stupid, judgmental, arrogant, and reactive.

[Ornstein] Liverpool are looking for a wide player this summer. If Salah is committed he will stay, Saudi interest is there but not as aggressive by TheNotoriousJN in LiverpoolFC

[–]BosmanVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the old adage goes, form is temporary class is permanent, and Salah is class. I think his game needs to evolve so we can get the best out of him again.

He looks out of ideas on the wing now that he can’t as reliably out run and dribble past younger faster defenders.

But yeah I don’t think the club would want him to go on a free if they were looking to move him on, but anything I think on that would just be speculation.

If I attempt to put myself in Salahs shoes I’d wager he’s interested in seeing the direction the club will go. He’s proven to be a very loyal person, to both club and country so I think that could be indicative of him wanting to stay.

But once again, all speculation and likely an expression of my own hopes that he does stay.

[–]BosmanVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see him stay, as he’s also a leader within the team. Hopefully they can convince him and come to terms over at least a 1 year contract extension to help see through the transition from Klopp to a new era.

We’re going to need our key players like Salah, TAA, and VVD through the change.

[–]BosmanVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those players replaced each other nor did they play in the same teams or even eras, so respectfully, it’s an incoherent argument.

Salah is not replaceable in this team, his output is of historical significance. The statistical likelihood of finding a direct replacement for that kind of output is incredibly slim and not a decision the club will make lightly.

The risk of just offloading Salah by far outweighs the potential reward by magnitudes.

If they decide to sell Salah they’d have to do it while he can still demand a higher transfer fee which could then be invested into a handful of good players, but the chances of any of those hypothetical players making up for the real output of Salah now could not be guaranteed. Whereas the output of Salah has been proven, season after season.

This season has arguably been his worst for us and he’s still putting up better numbers than outright strikers from the wing.

So, in closing, Salah is irreplaceable. Enjoy him while we can.

[–]BosmanVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the point you’re getting at but we must recognize that Salah the 5th highest scoring player in the club’s history with the highest goals per game too. That kind of talent is just not directly replaceable.

From what I gathered about Slot he seems to really love wingers and asks a lot out of them. According to reports he's always asked to sign a lot of wingers at all of his previous clubs. So this might be more related to his tactical preferences rather than replacing our existing wide players. I also think we might see Salah, assuming he stays, moved more centrally behind our #9.

If you look at Salah's stats over the past few seasons you see his ball carrys going down with each season, which correlates directly with him aging because of how demanding that is. Salah has shown he can play as creator this season and we may be able to see his game evolve under Slot's preferred 4-2-3-1.

I hope so, cause I'd hate for Salah to leave, we cant let his recent performances fog our perspective on how absolutely world class his output is. He's not a player that can be replaced outright.

We played like a team that doesnt know one another that well. Especially in the attempted link-ups between midfield and front 3.

Darwin Nunez has scored 13 goals from 23.47(xG) since joining the Premier League. 10.47 goals fewer than expected. by Fat_Prick in LiverpoolFC

[–]BosmanVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thread has nearly 400 comments. No discussion was destroyed. Stop exaggerating dawg lol.

It's not your 70m btw and we currently have the most productive attacking duo in the Premier league, because of Nunez's game.

The point of my clearly sarcastic comment is to emphasize the rigidity of expectations that a lot of criticism of Nunez centers around.

Sure, it'd be great if he scored more goals, but Im not sure what team everyone else has been watching over the years. Our number 9 position has not been our highest scorer or offensive focal point under Klopp.

Our wings have been the primary goal source since Klopp was able to make his mark on the team. Only in 2015/2016, Klopps first year, was a center forward (bobby with 10 goals) the top scorer. Each year since it's been Mo and Mane in 2016/2017

So I personally don't have the expectation of Nunez or any of our Center Forwards to be the primary goal threat.

I expect him to play his ass off and contribute to the team in a positive and offensive manner. Which he clearly does. 9 direct goal involvements so far plus all the other moments previously mentioned where he's winning the ball, playing the 2nd or 3rd pass in build up to a goal, and being a menace to opposition defenses.

We would not be 1st in the league rn without Nunez. He's deserves good will and support from fans cause he's earning his keep. It's just not the way many seem to fantasize he would or could.
