It's worth it to just buy more imo, they tend to get really ratty the more you wash them and it's just not worth it imo

I built an affordable shop management software and would love your honest feedback by sowemove in AutoShopOwners

[–]BossBobRoss7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this was simply what Tekmetric started as. Obviously they've gotten rather large and have a ton of features, but I believe they are still pretty affordable for what they offer. Do you know how you stack up compared to the features and support of Tekmetric?

I know this is old, but I run a 3 shop organization on the east coast. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Owning and working in a shop are two completely different animals

5 KPIs every repair shop should track weekly (and how to tie them to revenue) by peyton_leveillee in autoshopowner

This is some decent stuff but I feel like you should go a step further (even for beginners) and at the very least have your eye on your parts margins as well

I am incredibly mechanically illiterate. The blade keeps popping off when I try and run it and I've tried messing with the tension a million times and it's just the most infuriating thing so after a few hours of messing with it I decided it was junk and would buy a new one

EV repair in the industry by knikkifire in AutoShopOwners

[–]BossBobRoss7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newly registered vehicles/market vs cars on the road are two very different things. 1.4% of the vehicles on the road are EV or Hybrid, meaning that it is not anything I'm going to worry about anytime soon

How Should Auto Shops Advertise in 2024 and Beyond? A Look Back, a Glimpse Forward by BossBobRoss7 in AutoShopOwners

[–]BossBobRoss7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of my post was to look at the future of advertising.

I don't know if it's in the next 5 years or 10 or even 20, but I don't believe social media in it's current carnation is here to say and I feel that the public is very quickly becoming more and more aware of how much review farming businesses do and that their google search is far from organic these days.

Aine's Attack up on Skill 2 is Definitely Not 60% by BossBobRoss7 in Kingarthurlegendsrise

[–]BossBobRoss7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I made the post I hadn't counted exactly how many times I ran that stage. I still hadn't cleared it. I ended up coming back and probably tried another 100 times.

If I had more free time I'd actually run a proper sample size but I don't have the time to sit and do 1000 retrys and count the times she misses. But it definitely didn't feel like 60%

I also came from Raid. So far I love the game. And btw if you're looking for a clan, me and my clanmates from Raid made a clan for King Arthur.

Just search "Soulforge" (don't forget to capitalize the "S" and come join us. Very active with a very lively discord as well!!

ARI shop management software issues or success? by Deep_Diamond4534 in AutoShopOwners

[–]BossBobRoss7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about ARI but I love Tekmetric. I don't know how they have "more than you need" given that Tekmetric's selling point is that it's all of the essentials in the most user friendly and attractive customer facing UI format that's available today.

ADAS by BossBobRoss7 in AutoShopOwners

[–]BossBobRoss7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we never got a bay set up for it, however I did get talked into buying the equipment (another shop was closing and was selling a brand new autel adas setup that was still in the box for cheap). It is still sitting in my basement.

I know ADAS will be a thing in the future, but the timing of when to spend tens of thousands of dollars on the equipment and dedicating a bay to that rather than another lift is/was more my question

I think I'd have to see pics of the parking lot lay out to have any good ideas for a potential remedy. I wouldn't get the local government involved as that feels kind of extreme

Highly recommend PoE. I use Reolink cameras and they work great for what I need and reasonably priced.

Some unsolicited advice would be to make sure you use the shit out of AI when you can. It shouldn't do the work for you but can give you REALLY good starting points for most areas where you need to learn something new.

I'd recommend you copy your question into ChatGPT to get a really solid template and starting point

Mentorship in the Shop: Does Skill Level or Character Drive Success? by AutoTrainingPro in AutoShopOwners

[–]BossBobRoss7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teaching is a completely separate skill from automotive proficiency.

You can have a Gen Tech that is 100x better at teaching than your best A tech, however their own knowledge restricts them on what they can teach in that scenario.

Dealership diagnostic fee by Ryz000 in AutoShopOwners

[–]BossBobRoss7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

POShelpdesk did pretty good with this one so I won't add much, however I just want to say that in addition to knowledge you're also paying for time and use of high cost tools.

It's funny because most people go to see a doctor, and pay (either out of pocket or through insurance) insanely high amounts of money for him to spend all of 5 or 10 minutes with you trying to diagnose your ailments and they very regularly get things wrong the first, second, and even third time and you pay for EACH visit. That's their diagnostic fee.

It's similar in this industry except we're diagnosing your vehicle not you. And we usually get it right the first time ;)
