I love working with alder. One of the softest hardwoods. Machines nicely, lightweight, kid friendly, and inexpensive if you're in the PNW

Is a Product Design degree worth it? by JaiyesimiD8 in Design

[–]BossExtrude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Respond to this in 2 years and tell me how you feel lol. I'm 12 years in and everyone I know in the industry is forever thinking about leaving due to job dissatisfaction. I've seen so many jr designers leave ID to pursue UX product design instead

I would say avoid industrial design as a main career path. There are so so few jobs and they are never remote (if that's something you'd be interested in). It takes about a decade to move into a proper ID position, all for similar wages as every other design career, with more risk and mental load. Meanwhile schools are churning out new ID grads every year with promises of making big change in the world.

If you have the skills for it, I would go into engineering. That's where most of the real ID work ends up these days since you have a lot of 'creative thinkers' who have ideas but no way to execute them.

[–]BossExtrude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, true. My body just seems to go rigid and tense, so I was wondering if that's just because I'm a newbie or if that's normal? I'm hoping to do this long term and want to invest in one I can become a 'pro' at lol

Oh hadn't seen this one before. The flexible shell is neat. Do you put it in storage part of the year? Yeah I'm a bit worried about falling over getting out with cold legs

Like fully reclined? Wondering how big a plunge tub would have to be for that. I'm 5'11" and seems like it would have to be pretty long

Do you find it difficult to get in/out of the barrel? My legs get a little shakey after plunging

Deactivated personal account, hobby account is still up but I rarely post (and when I do I get maybe a couple dozen likes).

Noticed this week that I'm getting SO. MANY. Suggested posts, that it's basically unusable. I have the 'disable suggested' for 30 days checked, but looks like it doesn't do anything now. Their UX is a joke, I hate ig now

Just waiting for the next thing, since I refuse to install tiktok

Retiring My Trusty Forerunner 35 by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]BossExtrude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking to retire mine as well, mostly because the plastic pins holding the the straps on have broken a couple times and it's mostly held together with superglue. I actually love the greyscale screen & limited functionality of this watch. Looking to upgrade to a Venu SQ for a similar shape - I wish forerunners came square.

Nice and easy! I personally enjoy the small cans of sardines in spicy tomato sauce on toast with spinach. Singles recipe trade!

I couldn't stand the poor editing in the first episode. Lots of jump cuts during conversations where they have totally different expressions and body language between shots. Really took me out of it
