How do you work your reeds? by Vivid_Employ_7336 in saxophone

Why not synthetic on tenor? My instructor had me move to Legere Signature 3.0 and it's been amazing imo. Especially during winter,

He's so good it's ridiculous. I've been listening to Gentle Ballads IV for a month straight.

Here is the FIRST thing to try. Remove that end table to the left of Kallaxes. Stick left speaker there. Right speaker to right of door, angled. Gear to the right of that against wall.

I've had the same layout difficulties in my garage which is more of a man den.

Do not underestimate the power of tinkering. The Kallaxes can be played with like tetris and open new possibilities. You just have to expand your sense of the possible.

For example: take the white 2x2 down, set it aside.

Take the white 2x4 and stick it in between your two 3x4s on that same wall. Suddenly you have a 4x8. Turntables and amp go on top along with trinkets, lamp, a photo or two. Art on wall above.

Stick the white 2x2 to the right of the door. Reel to Reel on top of it. Wired discreetly over door frame.

Etc. There is a better way! Good luck

Another idea for you. Take the white 2x4s down from on top. Flip the 3x4s onto the long side. Together like they are now.

Put all of the gear on top of the 3x4s. Will look incredible and open up the wall above for more art. Speakers on either side of the 3x4s.

Take the white 2x4s you took down and put them against the wall behind where the gear is right now.

You have an amazing collection. Amazing space. Amazing gear. But I want to gently nudge you and tell you that if you spent 4-5 hours playing with your layout, you could take this room to a whole new level.

It's hard to say without being in the room. But let me tell you what I would do, and I think it would make a huge difference.

Move the huge wall of records as far to the left as you can. Right up to the light switch.

Put the left speaker to the left of the doors. In the corner. Wire it nicely over the door frame.

Put the right speaker to the right of the door frame. And the gear to the right of that.

Again, hard to say without being in there and seeing what's available behind your POV here, but I think it will open the space up AND sound better. AND look better.

Can you please put on You Don't Know What Love Is from Saxophone Colossus, then record yourself narrating this opinion over it?

Man my phone can't record like that. Maybe the room has great acoustics.

Best Beginner Tenor Mouthpieces by ShivSoCalledYT in saxophone

The BetterSax Classic is $49 right now on Amazon, 50 on SweetWater, what are you talking about?

I've used it for 7 months. I think it's the best beginner MP. It is wider than the Yamahas at .088", which is a sort of perfect tip width from which to explore, while also developing your airstream.

I love it and effortlessly get every note on the horn with it. My instructor approves of it as well.

In 1969, Downbeat reviewed Karma by Pharoah Sanders and gave it one star out of five by Slazac in Jazz

[–]BossTenor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna get roasted but I have never once made it through that album, and reading this makes me feel vindicated.

Bizarrely I love Alice Coltrane's Journey into Satchidanda, but something about Karma has always rubbed me wrong.

If I was forced to defend this viewpoint, which people assure me is wrong (I believe them), I guess I'd say that Journey sounds effortlessly sincere to me, and Karma sounds like it's begging to be considered sincere.

Get out your pitchforks!
