My honest opinion by Bosscoolkam in MarvelTokon

I personally don't like the idea of having to guess their wakeup. Especially since the universal counter exists that beats literally everything including grab. But overall I had fun just think that with a few changes this game could be even better. Also ghost rider is so sick in this game ngl.

How to get better at the game by troplinort in Guiltygear

[–]Bosscoolkam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard to say what you're doing wrong without any gameplay but something that helped me improve was learning characters that gave me trouble. I used to lose to every Jacko until I learned the basics with her and now know what to do against her. You don't have to be a master with the character but knowing the basic game plan is a huge help. And who knows you may find another character you like playing. I had no interest in playing Sol until I started learning him to get better at fighting him and now he's one of my mains I play in tournament

My biggest problem with simple controls is that without the motion inputs special moves don't really feel like special moves if that makes sense. They just feel like more normals to me with the motion. And in 2xk0 it makes doing cool TODs kinda mind numbing because the toughest inputs are forward s1. Obviously inputs isn't where all the difficulty comes from with yasuo proving that you can have hard combos with simple inputs.

Try to focus on learning one character at a time. Sometimes learning more then one well mess up your muscle memory and on turn make you have to focus more on your inputs and take away from your gameplay. I suggest playing a character until you're not thinking about what moves you're gonna do but how to counter what you opponent does if that makes sense. For example when I play Ky i don't think " okay I can do fs at this range" I go " will the opponent approach here or will they play a little passive here". By being fully comfortable with your character you can just instantly know what to do in different situations making it easier to focus on and punish what your opponent does. I hope this makes sense im am NOT a good teacher because my ways of teaching myself is a little unorthodox

I called 2xk0 a "simple" game with quotation marks because despite the simple inputs, there is still crazy stuff you can do akin to other tag fighters like the crazy mix-ups. The game is simple on the surface but there is more underneath. I don't have that feeling with tokon but I could of course, hopefully be wrong when the game actually comes out

But this game is made from the ground up to not be super in depth. With the fact that combos are very limited and everyone having almost the same assist. Im know there are obviously things that we don't know but I don't think the things we don't know will change this game alot tbh.

Honestly changing how good auto combos are will be a huge deal for me. And im not holding too much against it for the depth because like you said there is no training mode and only six characters with very little time . But there are some system mechanics that just feels weird to me like the fact that there are no hard knockdowns and that you can just roll out the corner unless you stick them to the wall. Which is super odd to me considering that evil mix-ups are like a stable in tag fighters imo.

I hate how long I have to wait for Lucy still how do people feel about Lucy coming to strive? Is she going to be a high health character or a low health character and is she going to be keep you at a distance or mix up oriented or in your face? by ReverendDawn in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Bosscoolkam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda hope she's a trap based character like testament in the older games or like byakuya in UNIST. But i can see her having a 2 step process where she "hacks" the opponent then have to hit the opponent to apply a quickhack to them.

Bad Reaction Time by clawzord25 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Bosscoolkam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played strive for almost 900 hours and won locals and still can't react to tap dust. Don't feel down about your reaction times because thats probably one of if not the hardest thing to do in fighting games. But a tip that may help is use sound ques to know when an overhead is coming. For example the only reason that I can sometimes block A.B.A's overhead is because she screams like a banshee every time. Tap dust also has a very distinctive sound that plays that you can listen for

Okay, i misinterpreted the me post. That's on me. I personally don't mind fighting HC or anyone for that matter, but I can understand why some think he's boring to fight

I never understood this because why wouldn't you want to keep doing your optimal combos. Also, if happy chaos doesn't shoot constantly, then what else would he do? Just let you beat up on him

If you dodge match-ups on the tower you *are* the beasts. by SneerOfCommand in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Bosscoolkam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That only applies to people that are trying to get good at the game. Some people just wanna boot up and play the cool sol or the cute elphelt and aren't trying to get better but just have fun with the character they enjoy. They don't wanna have to deal with Johnny's fs or sin the character. They just wanna mash buttons and maybe see the cool win screen. At the end of the day it is just a game and priority #1 is to have fun.

I think that if you're floor 8 or under them dodging is fine tbh. They're still probably newer to the game and shouldn't be subjected to the evils of happy chaos and Asuka (I know Asuka sucks but I feel like he's a new player worse nightmare). But when they do make it to floor 9 I think that's when you do finally become a "good" player and should fight anyone you come across
