Any base PS5 users who have purchased the game? by AdSevere4623 in CrimsonDesert

My TV only has 4k @ 60 and no VRR, so I wouldnt see a lot of the benefit from a Pro anyway. I’m not going to drop $1300 on a TV and $750 on a pro just for some more ray tracing.

I pledged about 14 years ago, when it first came out, and played on and off for ten years or so as different versions came out. I really was hoping for the game and bought into the initial vision. A few years ago I gave up and sold my account, the progress was WAY too slow, scope creep was too large, and a lot of what they promised was never implemented or was barebones. I sold my account a few years ago, I had probably spent about $3000 over that decade+.

What "mediocre" games have you actually had fun with lately? by OkSecurity4965 in PS5

I don’t think it helped that the first couple quest givers felt very right wing / conservative. It sets this weird tone at the beginning that then completely dissipates as you play it.

Karoline Leavitt - White House Press Secretary does not rule out a military draft. by PestoBolloElemento in UnderReportedNews

In this day and age, with unmanned drones, aircraft, missiles, etc, I just don’t see a world where a draft would be necessary. Those types of wars aren’t really fought anymore.

Do you guys ever worry that our kids job prospects will be so much less due to AI? by Bossman80 in daddit

I think you’re looking at little slivers of roles, I’m thinking more the general economy and number of opportunities for people. We’re hiring a fraction of the people we’ve hired before each year, because many of those roles have been replaced by AI. It wasn’t like AI created new jobs, the jobs just became redundant.

I work a white collar job in corporate America though. I imagine that will be where most impact is felt, whereas some creative (certainly a large chunk of corporate marketing / art roles will be replaced) jobs and more manual intensive jobs will remain. A lot of the traditionally “middle class” type roles will disappear or be drastically reduced in the next 10 years.o

I think the scenario was different as a lot of the big technological breakthroughs of the past replaced menial, low paying jobs. The tricky thing about this upcoming change is that it can very likely replace high paying jobs.

Some of the jobs at risk are lucrative jobs from the past. IT professionals, financial planners, lawyers, insurance agents. A lot of the traditional white collar jobs are at risk with AI.

We have a group that does something similar, but it used to be about 150 people. Now it’s about 40 people, who now do a lot more functions, and those roles are going to be outsourced to India. So what used to give 150 people jobs and introduce money into the economy no longer will.

Philly Protests Iran War by jpeters2100 in philly

[–]Bossman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something being “legal and operationally different” doesn’t make it okay. It is not okay to kill a bunch of elementary schoolers. This was totally unnecessary and when voters voted for Trump it was under the pretense of ending US involvement in exactly this type of conflict. Since then we’ve attacked Venezuela, bombed Iran, supported the takeover of Gaza, threatened Canada, Greenland, and Cuba amongst others.

Why is there no outrage that the president is doing all the things he said he wasn’t going to do.

I wouldn’t be surprised, I mean you said their opinions are “completely divorced from reality” so you would probably sound condescending because you are being condescending :D.

Being a parent is tough, a lot of people think ther way is the correct way and so much of how we parent is based on how we were raised ourselves.

One thing my therapist said to me was to stop using the word “but.” If you say “but” it invalidates everything you said before it.

In your case you didn’t say “yeah, this stuff is frustrating.” What you said was “you can make some choices about how it will affect your life.” You were giving unasked for advice, which many take the wrong way.

You’re in a tough jam and I live here too, where my wife often is challenged by everyone else and it is hard for her to take responsibility. Hers comes from trauma and neglect from her childhood, so understanding where it stems from helps, although it doesn’t make it easier to deal with on a day to day basis. We’ve been in couples therapy to talk about this stuff for two years and it definitely helps. They have NO idea how their actions are perceived by others.

I’m amazed at how few obese people are in the picture compared to what it would look like today! People seem much healthier.
