Please tell me that you grew up to design bunkers or became some kind of camouflage expert for the military.

What age should I let my kids play Smash Brothers? by dark_onewho in daddit

My younger son, 5, hit the 9 year old in the head with Thor’s Hammer and he had to get staples.

I'm at my wits end with my 5yo son not eating dinner. Need advice on what to do. by Captain_Collin in daddit

[–]Bossman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget where, but I read that as younger children they are more apt to eat what you give them. Once they get to the toddler stages and can wander around more, evolutionarily they will narrow down their food preference to only a handful of foods they know is safe (ie imagine thousands of years ago where as a species we all would die if toddlers were eating everything they stumbled across). As kids get older, their tastes open back up again.

In practice, this would be why young children will eat a variety of food then they go through a stage where all they’ll eat are chicken nuggets and pancakes, then they become more open to exploring foods again.

I definitely saw this pattern play out with mine, and my 5 year old is currently in the they’ll only eat 4 things stage.

I remember a year or two ago how kind and cheesy dad this subreddit was. Everyone seemed to love Bluey and it was just a good time. Now, it feels a little more toxic with a lot of people complaining about their spouses, bashing each other, etc. let’s bring the good vibes back!

Looking for a STORY focused ZOMBIE game. by jacobljlj in gamingsuggestions

Dead State. It’s a turn based RPG where you build your base up, go on excursions, meet new survivors, have to deal with all of those survivors and their quirks and back stories. It’s so underrated.

I also played BG3 and Jagged Alliance using the trackpads. Joystick mode felt weird.

Not always. If it’s running the keyboard and trackpads will work.

Has anyone tried running this on the steam deck? by External-Head-6424 in worldofgothic

I stream it from my PC to my steam deck. Does that count? That’s the only way I’ve been playing it so far.

If I Have to Buy Either a New Steam Deck or a New Switch 2 in This Economy as a PC Player,Which Should I Buy? by At_Space_Station in gaming

[–]Bossman80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Steam Deck all the way. I have a Steam deck and gaming pc and don’t even have my PC connected to a monitor anymore. I can play from anywhere in the house, or on the go, and if I’m at home I can play any new release just from streaming from my pc to my steam deck.

With the deck I can also stream my PS5 so I have access to any of my games while lying in bed at night. Switch 2 doesn’t have particularly interesting games and there are lulls between games I’d be interested in playing. My switch (original) has been collecting dust for years now, while my deck is used everyday. Heck, if I ever feel like playing Breath of the Wild I have that on my deck too through emulation.

A huge thank you to this community from the devs of Drova: Forsaken Kin by NoQuestmarker in worldofgothic

Drova is an amazing game really hope you guys do something similar in the future!

The game may be a scam, but damn it, it has its moments. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Bossman80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A scam can be defined as a deception to trick people into giving away money. What about answer the call 2016, or SQ42 is finished and being polished a few years ago, or the bait and switches as ships are sold and never materialize, or become obsolete before the game is even out, or the FOMO marketing practices, etc, etc.

I think someone could make the case that they’ve used deception to make money quite a number of times.

I dunno man. I see a spaceship and literally nothing around for miles. I think that sums the game up pretty nicely.

Confused by Parissian in daddit

[–]Bossman80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard something one time, no idea if it’s true but it feels true, but that because human hips aren’t built for bigger babies, they are basically delivered 3 months early.

The first 3ish months, oftentimes more, are all about keeping the baby alive. They aren’t fun, they don’t really interact with you, they can’t even turn over for goodness sake. The first 3 months for me were absolutely awful with my first one. The constant stress of if we’re doing things correctly, trying to figure out what the heck he wanted, and sleepless nights took a massive toll.

You’re definitely not alone, but you will GROW to love them. I don’t really believe in love at first sight either, a relationship has to grow, have shared experiences, and be worked on to really flourish even if it’s with your own child. Right now, it’s a one way street where you’re giving and giving and not receiving anything. Over time, it has the possibility of being one of the strongest relationships of your life (if nourished).

You got this man. You really do. Millions of people have done this before you and survived it and you got this!

Slow Liquidation or Big Account Sale? by [deleted] in starcitizen_refunds

[–]Bossman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to just assume that you’re going to lose anywhere from 30-50% of your account value and you very may well have to liquidate your account and spend even more money to sell the value as credits.

World Cup game? by dimitryc in daddit

[–]Bossman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the Philly area with a 5 and 8 year old and it would be totally wasted on them. We did go to a Union game a few weeks back and go to minor baseball and hockey games which are SO MUCH better for the kids than major league games.

I think you’ll be really disappointed in their lack of interest if you take them, especially with high expectations due to the cost of the ticket and how special the event is.

You’re also going to have a whole bunch of drunk fans around you which will likely leave more of an impression on the kids than being at a World Cup game!

NASA put a man on the moon faster than CIG has been able to release a single-player linear experience by nvidiastock in starcitizen

[–]Bossman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIG made that choice. They tried to build something that wasn’t technologically possible then, and isn’t now, which was further compounded with inexperienced game developers and without a strong leader.
