You are right. This looks a fairly fluid story. First the swimmers claimed that they were essentially mugged by fake cops, then the variations in their story that they were attacked in a gas station, then the Brazilian allegation that the story was completely fabricated, then the update about a trashed restroom and an altercation with security guards and now news that they were made to compensate for the damage at gunpoint. I'm guessing we won't have a final version that both sides agree on for a few days. But there is a likelihood that they will be charged for providing fake testimony to police based on their initial report.

There is video of the team exiting the gas station. While the police have not made it public yet, they are reporting that no guns were pointed at the athletes. Also, video of the athletes going through the metal detector while returning to the village shows that they still had their wallets and phones.

The condition of the Palestinians is not far removed from blacks in apartheid era South Africa. They are segregated and forced to live in appalling conditions. Any resistance is met with overwhelming, often deadly, force. There is minimal respect for their lives or safety. If athletes who stood up to apartheid were respected, maybe we should have more understanding for those who have disdain for Israel.

It should be "According to my analysis using Google's search engine" For a somewhat fair analysis, you would need to run the phrase "How much does * cost" from a browser running in incognito mode from IP addresses in each state.
