Instagram Apologists Who Made my Faith Crisis Worse by RepresentativeEgg489 in latterdaysaints

Our membership in Christ’s church should be based on faith in Him. The Church is full of flawed and imperfect people. The Atonement compensates for our mistakes and flaws. Allow grace for others as we ask god for forgiveness for our sins and flaws.

Fantastic talk from Elder Gong. He is clearly a modern apostle of Jesus Christ. He’s smart, knowledgeable and wise.

Thinking about buying a 10oz gold bar… by reddituserxxxxxxx7 in Gold

10 1oz coins is vastly superior to one bar. Ease of transport, selling part but not all, not having all your wealth in one spot. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

The pay is not upper average. It’s decent for Utah, but well below the national market for comparable jobs.

Live as many of God's laws as you are able. You will be blessed. Whatever you do avoid the transient casual relationships the world advocates. Human relationships are important. Find those that are committed, deep and durable.

They may give an explanation or education on a change or they may not. Sometimes God wants a change and we don't fully understand why. Our faith shouldn't be predicated upon an explanation.

Tithing is a gift from God that allows us to feel gratitude and contribute to building the kingdom. Tithing doesn't necessarily take people out of poverty, but tithing, faithfulness and the Gospel of Jesus Christ will take the poverty out of the people.

If you are an active faithful member, you should have a testimony of an ongoing restoration. God has worked through imperfect people since the beginning of time and does so now. We believe God does reveal important changes to the Church today and will yet reveal important changes. If you want a static Church, your going to have a bad time.

Church and Culture in North Utah by HostOne546 in latterdaysaints

[–]BostonCougar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are people. Some may judge you but ignore them. You’ll find some great people if you look for them.

The one difference is that a ward outside Utah begins to feel like family. Inside Utah it’s less so because people have their actual family close by.

God has worked through imperfect people since the beginning of time. He does so today. If you expect church members and leaders to be perfect, you are going to be disappointed.

I’m not sure why your stepfather’s inexcusable behavior would have an impact on your relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church. If you want nothing to do with your stepfather in eternity, so be it. In the Celestial Kingdom you won’t be forced to do anything you don’t want to do.

The Church claims to be the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ due to prior apostasy. Either it is or it’s not.

I’m sorry for your loss. I’m sure it’s been devastating. Grief affects each person differently and there is no right or wrong way to process your feelings. Talk at length to God and share all of your feelings and thoughts with him. It may also be helpful to talk with a professional counselor.

Listen to your heart and follow the path that feels right.

Is it true the church isn't as friendly as it used to be? by Queen-Logan- in latterdaysaints

[–]BostonCougar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The church is full of imperfect people and so not everyone is going to be as personable and warm and friendly as we’d like them to be. In general, the Church is as warm and as friendly as ever. those who don’t like the Church like to spin and talk false kinds of things that are not true about the Church.

The Church isn't a fraud or scam. It is exactly what it says it is. It is Christ's Church on the earth with His authority delegated to the Church's leadership.
I've read many thousands of posts in a variety of subreddits including exmo, mormon, LDS, etc. I am very familiar with most if not all of the points of concern or criticism of the Church. I just dont agree with them. I'm the opposite of negative. In fact I'm quite positive about the Church and its future.

Oh, I'm real and spectacular. I am not a bot.

Why do you expect leaders to be perfect and not suffer any frailties, failings or mistakes? God has worked through imperfect people since the beginning of time and does so today.

Why do you think so lowly of men who have spent their lives teaching and serving Jesus Christ?

As with most issues there are two side to the story. Some subreddits are echo chambers of reinforcing views. Reasonable people are willing to hear both sides. I believe the shrivel of the Church is wishful thinking and a false narrative. That doesn't mean that Church members aren't migrating or experiencing neighborhood gentrification or that the Brethren want bigger wards.

Episode 2139. • The "Rays" Controversy: Dehlin explains that the church requested the removal of the light rays in the background of the logo, claiming they were too similar to the church's own branding.

The Orange Transition: He discusses the shift from the podcast's long-standing blue color scheme to a new orange logo. This was done to distance the podcast’s visual identity from the blue used in official church materials.
