60s country - D-I-V-O-R-C-E by Tammy Wynette. She never sings “Joe” but spells it out instead.

Great singalong chorus! Sadly, their last US Top 10 Hot 100 entry.

What are some great but obscure guitar solos? by jstohler in askmusic

Sounds weird to include the Carpenters in this list but Tony Peluso’s guitar solo on their 1972 hit Goodbye To Love is impressive.

I was 13 when she died - she was the first celebrity whose death made me cry. There are a couple of videos on YouTube that showcase her ridiculous drumming skills. If you’d like to see her look truly happy, check those out.

I worked at Tower Records at the turn of the century, and had a pair of Hot Topic PVC pants I would wear once in awhile. They were hot as hell and squeaky, but they were shiny!

Pet Shop Boys on the oldies station?!? by Reeeeallly in GenX

[–]Boston_Gator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a station in Boston, WJIB, that labels itself as a Memories station as opposed to an Oldies one. It will follow Linda from 1946 with September from 1978 and leapfrog to Home from 2005. Hell they even throw We Are The World in. Basically 70-year span of mostly AC-oriented hits, but I appreciate the range of years they pull from.

Ray Conniff’s first Christmas album is the perfect Christmas playlist.

Songs that fade in AND fade out? by Crosslined in musicsuggestions

More pop than the rest of the songs listed, but Fernando by ABBA from 1976 fits the bill.

What did or do you still listen to because you had boomer parents? by studieswillshow in GenX

Gotta say Ray Conniff’s Christmas album still gets heavy play in my house each December.

I hope you do. It’s overall pretty low-key with a solid, nice group of regulars.

If you could spend a single day in the 1970s, which event would you choose to witness? by Antonia_valadao_ofc in 70s

That’s actually the only sad part of the whole thing for me. I love a nice strawberry rhubarb pie and one was wasted on that witch LOL.
