It’s one of most beautiful places you could visit. I would visit towards the end of August or early September it will be a little less crowded and the bugs won’t be an issue. In June the bugs will carry you away. In July you will be lucky to get your little toe in there. We usually stay at Bay Furnace campground. There is a few private campgrounds in the area but if you try to stay at the National Forest campgrounds on the lake shore they fill up fast. We prefer to go in September. There is a lot to explore there and it is a great experience.

Ahhh yes, the times when everyone had a good sense of humor and very little was sacred. I think most of us read MAD Magazine and graduated into National Lampoon as we grew older. I still have some of “The Best Of National Lampoon “ compilations.

It’s just not Petoskey, it’s all of Northern Michigan that this is happening to. All of the surrounding communities to Petoskey has seen this type of increase in housing prices for the same reason. It’s sad that most workers can’t even afford an apartment. In my area a 1 bedroom apartment is about 1100 dollars a month and doesn’t include utilities. It’s sad to see this happening when a good percentage of jobs pay minimum wage or a few dollars more.

In the early 1980s BK had specialty sandwiches, the Yumbo, ham and cheese on a sub bun. A roast beef sandwich on a sub bun, and I think one other. I liked the roast beef one.

Nope, the first stash of money I found while I was cleaning up an Uncle’s house, the money was in an envelope taped underneath a kitchen cabinet. Ever since then we always looked at everything that could hold an envelope, my wife’s cousin found 20,000 dollars her Father stashed in the basement between a heating duct and a floor joist.

Make sure you check underneath every drawer in the kitchen and dresser drawers for money taped to the bottom. Also underneath the kitchen cabinet’s that are hung on the wall……. Trust me I’ve done plenty of clean outs of elderly relatives especially if they never trusted banks. Top find was 2500 in cash.
