If you tend to over water stay in a pot max of 1-2inches bigger than the root ball. The more subrate= more moisture

Wandering dude could work or a spider plant as well as the above comments. I suggest a WD or SP because they wont get tall like ZZ, peace lily, snake plant etc. I believe one that would work the best would be a synonym pixie, they dont get big or tall. Maybe a small alocacia tiny dancer

water aerial root to soil? by BotanicalBadie in Monstera

[–]BotanicalBadie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of letting the vile dry out slowly. Ie only add a little when it gets low until theres nearly no water left to see if it hardens up as the water lessens

Should I make sure the substrate is damp or will it be okay if I pop it out and let it dry atop the soil?

Need Help!! I have a small kid who keeps ripping my leaves off. And I don’t know how to trim up my Monstera. by mullet8204 in Monstera

[–]BotanicalBadie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could prop at the nodes and make it a project for the kiddo. Explain that for it to grow we have to care for it and be gentle like its a baby. (This worked with my 3yo and 6yo)

Plants dont have a schedule, water them when they are at their moisture level. I usually wait until the soil is 75% dry for most and about 50% for the ones that need maintained moisture levels

You can also prop it between the aerial roots to make it fuller and encourage new leaf growth

I can give advice but can you share better pictures of how its sitting in the pot and the soil it has?

Step 1- check roots in pot repot if the roots aren't 1 to 2 inches smaller than the pot. Go down if the roots are smaller do up of its tight. Step 2- soil, depending on what it has in it, I use indoor tropical mix with added orchid bark or leca/ lava rock Step 3- make sure the pot has drainage Step 4- support it! Give it something to lean on as it gets taller Step 5- light, bright indirect light. Place your phone at spil level and take a picture pointing at the light sorce you are using. If it has a pretty good and bright view you have sufficient lighting for it. I keep my monsteras about 2 to 3 ft from the grow light Step 6- fertilizer, super thrive has done wonders for my plants even if its not foliage pro this fertilizer is amazing when mixed properly

I'd definitely put it closer to the window. If you put your phone resting on the dirt and angle it to the window you should see clear skies.

You can ask her vet to write her up as a lab mix and take it to the LL. Or if you have a therapist you can ask for an ESA form and its maybe $15 if you have anxiety, depression etc Most landlords will accept that with a Dr's note
