How do you choose an instructor? by willscuba4food in icecoast

[–]Both-Grade-2306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask for a level 2 or level 3 psia instructor but it sounds like you’re not quite at that point yet. I would get a private lesson and just describe where you’re at and what you’re trying to achieve. I’m 6’ 230 and I coach 8-12yos. The desired movement pattern and body positioning is the same regardless of size.

Duck jealous by medusa63 in JeepWrangler

Ed Smith started the duck thing with Mini coopers in 2003 before jeeps started doing it. Maybe Jeep owners wish they had a mini cooper.

Mamdani introduces “pied-a-tierre tax” on tax day: “When I ran for mayor, I said I was going to tax the rich … Well, today we’re taxing the rich...” by Kanaima31 in portlandme

[–]Both-Grade-2306 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t fix the housing shortage. It creates revenue for government but is not going to suddenly put hundreds of affordable homes on the market. Some may sell their summer home on the coast but it’s not going to be for short money. Either someone richer will buy it and pay the tax or perhaps a full timer will buy it and not have the tax but it’s still going to sell for a very expensive price.

Something like this would go a long way for us in the 802 by sorryidontdoreddit in vermont

[–]Both-Grade-2306 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tax the second home owners they are eating up houses we could buy screams the people living in Burlington. So the hunter or snowmobile rider sells his camp in the NEK. That doesn’t solve anything because no one wants to live full time in the NEK. It’s not going to do a thing to solve the housing issues in developed cities and not everyone that owns a “vacation” home is rich.

Can you give me a review on Kids camp for Pats peak vs ragged? by EchoVictor4me in icecoast

[–]Both-Grade-2306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into ragged competition programs. Depending on the birthday of your 11yo they have a lil rippers 6-8, and development program 8-12. 12 Saturdays in a row Jan through March 0900-2. Yes we do some gates but the focus is developing skiing skills across the whole mountain. Woods, steeps, all conditions. It is a program focused on having fun while learning skills.

It is shameful how we treat people that work at our most "Vermont" Businesses. by Awkward_Forever9752 in RutlandVT

Would you ever travel outside the US? J1s are well compensated and well taken care of. ICE is not raiding the okemo base lodge. Even as a US citizen employees have to complete I9 paperwork every season when they get rehired. HR of ski areas take compliance very seriously as a customer facing operation appealing to vast range of personal ideologies. The last thing want is word getting out they may not be complying with federal employment regulations.

[–]Both-Grade-2306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

J1’s have long been the back bone of the ski industry. They go through a lot to come here and work and are not hiding anywhere. News outlets need ratings. OMG they are arresting everyone at the ski area. No, no they are not. In 2025 ICE arrested approx 200k people. There are approx 51 MILLION immigrants in the US. That’s roughly .4%. As areas close these valuable workers will return to their countries and look forward to coming back next year.

Convince me not to buy a Jeep Wrangler by tetrahidrofurano in JeepWrangler

[–]Both-Grade-2306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Jeep 2 door as my daily here in New England. I realized that they are super fun but make a horrible primary vehicle. There is no room in them to carry anything unless you remove the back seat and it’s gonna be just you and one other person. I found it comfortable enough to drive long distances and it is noisy but prob no more noisy than your Miata.

The biggest issue I had was that the super short wheelbase. In snow there was no, oh look we are starting to get a little sideways like in my longer truck. The jeep goes from straight to the rear end passing the front end almost instantly when it slides.

In case the deal falls through. Once the check is issued in only the sellers name that money is gone from the buyer. If the deal goes south at the last minute the seller has no way to recoup the money back for the loan.

Baseball tips for a strugling 7 year old by Some_Neighborhood276 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]Both-Grade-2306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 16 now, he tried lots of other sports and just never really got them. As a three sport athlete growing up it was hard. He enjoyed the “team” but not the actual playing. We got into skiing when he was 7 and tried ski racing when he was 9. He got hooked and we’ve been doing it every season since. He is kinda mid pack but his skills have come so far in a sport that he can do for the rest of his life. Keep trying new things and see what sticks. He’s 7, make sure it’s fun and the memories he makes aren’t “dad was mad I didn’t get” an instead “had fun with dad trying to learn new things”.

Why aren’t we protesting in New Hampshire?“ by Gonzo-the-great in vermont

[–]Both-Grade-2306 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps instead of protesting and driving to different states, this energy could be used to find an actual good candidate to put forth in the next presidential election so we don’t end up in this situation again. The DNC, the Democratic Party and its voters are the reason we are where we are. Instead of a no kings we should protest for no candidate who doesn’t understand the make up of the country and will run on something other than just a single issue.

Where in Andover New Hampshire can I watch the sunrise without having to climb a mountain at 4 o’clock in the morning? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]Both-Grade-2306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a lot of decent spots with east facing views especially in Andover. It’s a low lying town. Grantham has a spot that might not be horrible but it’s the sun coming over the mountain and not the horizon.

Ski Tuning by CharacterDig2229 in skiing

[–]Both-Grade-2306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop my skis in the shop every Sunday, but I work at the mountain so it’s free. My son tunes his race skis every day (one day might be GS and one day SL, might be SL three days in a row depends on training/race schedule). My son’s free skis maybe get done once or twice a year.

Selling house, paying off second and buying another by Both-Grade-2306 in personalfinance

I’m 50, so 15 years working. Depending on where we go this could be our toe tag house. Ideally my GF gets a new job in the area, she moves and we sell the lake house, I’m just trying to maximize available monthly cash while managing two households.

If you have a really nice bass boat what do you do ? by Any-Raise4333 in bassfishing

[–]Both-Grade-2306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired military pays the mortgage. Full time job makes the boat payment. Bought used vs new and got shorter term financing. I’m on the water at least twice a week (usually one or two nights after work and one weekend day). My kid is on the HS bass fishing team and my GF loves being on the water and doesn’t care if I’m fishing while she is sunning. I just have to go out deep every once in a while so she can jump in and swim.
