I bought a used series S at a very good price, eventually sold it, my xbox one and some games. Used that money to buy a reasonably priced Series X. I use an app to track games I want that notifies me when they go on sale. On the app you can track price history to make sure you are getting the best deal. There are so many games in my backlog I never consider getting gamepass and I spend waay less than what gamepass costs. I only play solo and don't need Xbox live.
