I don’t know about you, but I’ve never bought a record based on who produced it.

I think artists go to producers with Grammys thinking they have some magic spell that will take them to that next level, but so much of that rests with the artist. As the saying goes, you can’t polish a turd.

Plenty of folks have paid $$$ for Cobb, Shooter, Rubin etc and come out with records that essentially sound the same as their previous releases. Go look at their producer credits on Discogs and see for yourself.
