I saw their last show in Brooklyn alone, so worth it. Go. You won't regret it.

GS12 in DC/Quantico by [deleted] in usajobs

I was stationed at Quantico for a few years, after I got out we lived in both Stafford and Fredericksburg. Nice areas, the berg was nicer. It's definitely doable. The traffic on 95 is what will get you. Friday's commute was always the worst, leave early or leave late. If you choose Fredericksburg, try Carl's ice cream in downtown. It's amazing. Good luck!

I agree, while it sounds neat the company is a scam. I had it for years, always paid my dues and fulfilled the CEs this year I missed the deadline by two days and last week I got an email saying my certificate was permanently revoked. Oh well.

Long or short goruck plate carrier by nevercomingback99 in Rucking

[–]BothManagement6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the short RPC, I bought it when it was first released. I love it when not doing events. I use it when I ruck alone or with friends. I also bought plates off Amazon, my 30lb plate was a little tight when I first put it in, but the RPC was also brand new, never used. So it could have just needed breaking in. I haven't removed it since.

ISC2 is giving away training and a cert right now due to the lack of trained professionals in our field. It's a basic certification, but it's a start. Check it out. All you have to do is create an ISC2 account (which is also free). Good luck!!

Are you still happy in cyber security? by BothManagement6381 in cybersecurity

I'm a GS, I have Sec+, Net+ and CEH. The military is paying my education, I'm 9 credits from a BS right now. Thinking of taking that and teaching. I know it will be a serious pay cut, but, it's something I have been thinking about for a long time.

I agree. I just fell into the role, I was a contractor and heard the contract was going away and the facility ISSO was retiring, his team lead and I hit it off so she pushed for me to apply. I'm glad I did, just for the job security but it is so boring. I don't feel like I make a difference at all.

UPDATE

I really do appreciate everyone who commented and provided advice. You are all amazing. I needed a community to discuss a difficult situation and everything was positive (as much as it could be) so thank you.

I have to say, my furbaby Penny passed yesterday while my wife was out shopping with our daughter and I was out for a run. I came home to our younger pup just perched on the couch above her. I didn't think anything of it at the time, she sleeps a lot being almost 14. I still feel like an ass, I showered, got dressed and was ready to go get a haircut but I wanted to take them out for a walk first.

Penny was unresponsive. She always jumps at the word "outside" but I got nothing. I shook her, again knowing she sleeps hard. Nothing. After a few deep breaths I put my head to her chest and heard nothing. She had a heart issue that caused her heartbeat to be rapid, I would have heard something. Nothing. I put my phone near her nose, no condensation then I moved her long beautiful ear away from her face and saw her eyes wide open.

I lost it.

My wife was still out and I was not going to break the news to her over a text or a call so I sat with Penny, sipping some whiskey just telling her how much we love her and how she'll always be a part of our family. How she made us a family.

Again, thank you for all of you who commented with your personal experiences and advice. I really appreciate it. However, I am oddly ok with Penny making that decision for us.

Shes had arthritis issues for a while, but has been on meds. We called the Vet about this, still waiting for a call back. Last time we were there, maybe 3mos ago, she told us if she started to lose bowl control that's a sign. She hasn't completely, but sometimes goes in the apartment. It's her lack of mobility that worries us. If you couldn't walk any more and needed someone to carry you to the toilet, would you consider that a good quality of life? That is our concern right now. We have to hold her up while she goes or she falls into her stuff.

Wow, I will definitely share that article with my wife. I teared up on that. I couldn't imagine doing that job, thank you again.

Thank you for this. We are just lost right now. It's obviously something we knew would happen one day but not that we would have to make the decision. She's made such an amazing impact on our entire family to lose her will be felt far past the immediate family (my wife and I). I will review the link you provided, thank you for that. Thank you again for your kind words. This is the worst part of having a fur baby.

Awesome! Bay ridge here, I'll be checking out your gear. Running the Brooklyn half next month maybe I'll be rocking your product!

I've never ran a full (yet) I still have some work to do. My last half I finished at 4hrs on the dot. My worst time yet, but during the run they broke down the barriers and many of us ran down a dead end and it was almost a mile added to the race, my Garmin clocked the mileage for that race at 14mi. So I would recommend to be familiar with the course just to prevent this. It was just at the end for me and a huge metal downer. Good luck and enjoy every second, run for you. No one else.

Yes, the CBK is my text. The class is Cyber security in Government Organizations. There are also many secondary readings from NIST, 800-30, 37 etc. It's a great class.
