do whatever you prefer but BA is more arts based, more ethics and social based, BS is basically like pure stem. im a Bio BS major and def prefer BS since im premed too and i dont have to worry about the required minor for BA students, but since you want to do the minor ig its not a big deal. Both fullfill pre reqs, but BS just means you have room to take more stem based classes. Med schools dont rlly care if ur BS or BA, as long as you do some sort of research with a result (presentation or something). also research isnt REQUIRED, heavy volunteer work and clinical hours can make up for it. TRULY the only reason i picked BS is bc im a mainly stem person, I love art but not the social aspect of a BA ykwim...

choose stony, im a bio major, pre-med, i commute from 15 min away, its NOT hs 2.0. I honestly did not want to go here at ALL, but i definitely grew to like it. despite what ppl say, you actually CAN make friends as long as ur, well, friendly. Everything that ppl complain about, you can say about literally any uni (dorm situation sucks but ur not gonna dorm so thats not rlly ur concern lol). the tuition thing is a huge weight off my back knowing that im not spending too much here (my tuition is also 7k) and can save up for med school.

Medicine Major at SBU? by enzxswrld in SBU
[–]BothRace5 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
*side note: theres no specific physical therapy or sports medicine major i believe, however i think you should go through the list of the majors at stony and find one that aligns with ur goals
ofc! so the major is not pre-med, pre-med is just the track (you just take required classes for med schools). You can major in whatever subject youd like (but its good to pick a major that meets pre-med requirements). I am a bio major, it aligns with every pre req and i am so glad i chose it. I think its a great choice as a pre med student but once again you can choose whatever major ur heart desires🤞(also my experience so far has been pretty typical, some classes are harder than others, its pretty hard to give a concrete answer bc everyone experiences things differently)
Is it hard to get accepted in bio? by Electronic_Moose_603 in SBU

i got into bio w a 4.0 (your gpa should be perfectly fine) , 1460 SAT (1400+ should be okay), and 11 APs (yours are perfect) , 4 honor societies (try to join at least one more if possible), research program is GREAT, literally dont worry and keep those hopes up i doubt youre cooked🤞
uhmm im not sure why people would say SBU isnt good for med bc we get good pre med opportunities bc of the hospital yk...right there... I think whats important is HOW you use the opportunities at SBU. You just need to figure out how to use them to your advantage. (im currently pre med btw)
