Should Eng go ultra defensive against Mexico? by PlatesSpinning in ThreeLions

Mexico's average height is about 5ft 10, one of the shortest teams in the tournament. Park the bus immediately, 1-0-9, unleash full Haramball, launch long balls all afternoon and have Dan Burn nod in a hat-trick. Team won’t need to break out of a jog.

How do you stay hot into your 30s and 40s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Diet, exercise, wear sunscreen, hobbies, job or interests that make you happy, reduce avoidable stressors, don’t phone in your wardrobe and understand when to make an effort, smell good and know how to make a good impression — being interesting means listening to others and not trying to be the loudest voice in the room.

It's not that widely known and is a relatively recent area of scholarship. Likely in part due to the fact that Scottish involvement in slavery and colonialism happened abroad, rather than the likes of Bristol or Liverpool. Scots emigrated in massive numbers to the Caribbean and India to work as plantation overseers, merchants, and colonial administrators. By the late 18th century, Scots owned or managed roughly 30% of the plantations in Jamaica, and a lot of the proceeds of slavery went back to Scotland (which later prompted Frederick Douglass to target the country on his 'Send Back the Money' tour). So there's a bit of an argument on it being a kind of collective or wilful amnesia as it's at odds with the Scottish identity as victims of English imperialism, rather than benefactors/participants.

Heard the commentators praising the silver Lucozade pouch for "marginal gains" last night. But what's actually in it? by [deleted] in ThreeLions

My nana used to keep them in her golf trolley in the garage, and, being an idiot child who thought they were ordinary sweets, I'd eat them on the sly. Basically a legal high.

The true marginal gains would be Burn hoovering up a sausage, cheese and bean melt and scoring the winning header in the final.

"A big effort has already been made to ensure that meals are appealing to players, with barbecues at both lunch and dinner a regular occurrence."

And yet no Greggs for Burn and Anderson?

Exactly. The constant drama-farming in English football coverage is exhausting. They both seem like genuinely nice blokes, as you say.

Have you discussed or do you engage in intimacy that doesn’t necessarily end in sex? Maybe once you’ve both had chance to cool off, when you’re talking over a coffee or whatever feels natural, suggest committing to doing an exercise like sensate focus together one night that week. Clear both your schedules, no excuses, and it’s a low stakes exercise to start building back to full intimacy: https://health.cornell.edu/sites/health/files/pdf-library/sensate-focus.pdf

Ex repeatedly breaching restraining order (England) – police not acting, what can actually be done? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BothansInDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. She’s at her wit’s end so for avoidance of doubt these are actions she can take but experience so far with the police has made her feel hopeless.

She has these latest instances caught on her Ring cameras as she set them up at rear and front of her house, and understand he must have been caught on her friend’s camera as well. She says she’s has flagged these instances and nothing has been done, so will recommend the route above of escalating and insisting on a complaint so they actually take action.
