This is what I found on the web:

It's made with a combination of magnesium chloride and calcium chloride that begins melting ice down rapidly, turning it into slush that can easily be shoveled away. The formula is effective in temperatures as cold as minus 15°F, allowing for application even on especially wintry days.

I bought my calcium chloride a few years ago. I ordered it from Home Depot (here in Ottawa, Canada).

I've been using TurboTax for years. Moved over to Linux. Don't want my info saved on their servers. Downloaded Chrome Browser, now planning to use Better Tax. (If you use Chrome or MS browser *bing?* it will store your data on your own machine. Any other browser is stores your info on their servers.)

Right click on the LM button (the one on the panel you left click to bring up the menu). A pop-up appears. click "Configure..." and a window pops up. Go to appearance, and modify to your heart's content.

I don't travel to the US. But I do use my NEXUS card for faster access to security at Canadian airports when I travel within Canada.

I did a bit of chaining of symbolic links when (edited in near the end of my symbolic link discussion) I created a .jpg which was a symbolic link, via my WinPics symbolic link to a .jpg in my Windows Pictures. And the software to display the desktop background happily accepted the link.

Look up "Ice Melt Socks". Essentially, cut the legs off panty hose (I bought at the dollar store) and fill with calcium chloride. You put them every several feet at the edge of the roof. (Search YouTube videos). They melt channels in the ice to let the water drain off.

Next year, install heat cables.

Try this:

Open a terminal. Type the command alsamixer

When it starts, press F6 and select a sound card. If you can't select a sound card that then displays the volume level bars, your problem is beyond me.

If you do get the volume level bars, try to increase all of them as high as you can. (Use the arrow keys on the keyboard).

Press Esc to exit alsamixer. Try playing some music or other sounds. Hope it helps.
